INTRODUCTION
We're Looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager!
About the Company:
Security Benefit is a leader in the U.S. retirement market with more than $60 billion in assets under management. We offer opportunities to thrive, innovate, and make an impact. As part of our team, you’ll play a key role in driving the future of the U.S. retirement industry. Security Benefit is a PLACE where we promise to help our customers To and Through Retirement®.
We’re proud to have been recognized as one of the best in the business:
- Named to Ward’s 50 list of top-performing life-health insurance companies
- Recognized on list of Ingram’s Top 100 Private Companies in the Kansas City area in 2024
ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Senior Product Manager you will own the product area, spanning digital self-service channels and human-assisted service (Call Center/Contact Center). The role owns the roadmap that grows from that MVP. This is a strategic business role requiring independent judgment across ambiguous, multi-faceted problems, deep engagement with annuity and service operations, and the ability to lead cross-functional collaboration without formal authority. The successful candidate will bring strong critical thinking, comfort challenging the status quo, and enough fluency in technology, design, and AI to shape solutions credibly alongside Tech Leads and Platform Leads. This role owns the roadmap for one consistent experience regardless of which channel a customer or advisor chooses, driving improvement in Net Promoter Score (NPS), Customer Satisfaction (CSAT), First Contact Resolution, and digital containment, and in the operational outcomes that prove digital transactions work: cycle time, NIGO rate, and straight-through processing. This role also leads to the establishment of the Experience Service Center, serving as a bridge between business strategy and technology delivery for the initiatives that take shape there.
The Senior Product Manager position reports to the Head of Portfolio Strategy & Delivery and can be based in our Topeka or Overland Park, Kansas office. We work a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility to work both remotely and on-site.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Product Manager, you'll be responsible for:
- Owning product strategy and roadmap for the digital and service experience product area, balancing digital self-service and Call Center/Contact Center needs
- Owning the advisor-facing service experience: the cockpit journeys through which advisors and their staff initiate and track transactions, in partnership with Distribution
- Identifying and resolving ambiguous product problems where established approaches must be adapted or new approaches invented
- Leading Epic-level prioritization decisions involving significant trade-offs across business value, compliance, risk, and technical feasibility
- Navigating competing priorities from multiple stakeholder groups with competing interests
- Deciding where conversational AI belongs and where designed flows must remain, owning the guide-versus-execute boundary, confirmation patterns for consequential transactions, and the education-versus-advice line in customer-facing experiences, in partnership with Compliance and the AI Control Tower
- Participating actively in Cross-Team Sync with other Product Managers and Platform Leads, coordinating dependencies, surfacing risks, and aligning roadmaps across product and platform areas
- Partnering with Platform Leads on cross-product Epic coordination and shared capability planning
- Serving as a bridge between business strategy and technology delivery for complex, multi-team Initiatives including the establishment of the Experience Service Center
- Influencing roadmap sequencing and investment decisions through data-driven analysis and stakeholder alignment
- Contributing to the development of product management standards, playbooks, and best practices within the organization
- Leading QPE preparation for complex product areas: owning Epic sizing with the Tech Lead and presenting the prioritized list at QPE
- Driving multi-quarter roadmap planning that accounts for organizational capacity, technical dependencies, and strategic objectives
- Sequencing the roadmap around policy-administration integration dependencies, working with our administration partner and the ACUMEN data platform teams; no journey is committed until its integration dependency is confirmed
- Partnering with the Business Analyst to elevate story quality and refine acceptance criteria standards
- Coordinating Enabler Epic sequencing with the Tech Lead to ensure architectural runway is established ahead of Business Epic execution
- Defining KPI and OKR frameworks that measure outcomes, not just outputs: NPS, CSAT, First Contact Resolution, and digital containment on the experience side; cycle time, NIGO rate, straight-through-processing rate, and advisor adoption on the operational side
- Owning AI answer quality as a product metric: setting accuracy targets for grounded answers, tracking escalation quality, and enforcing the standard that the assistant says “I can’t compute that yet” rather than guessing. Digital containment counts only when the contained answer was right
- Analyzing product performance data to generate insights and adjust roadmap priorities accordingly
- Providing product thinking and analytical support to business stakeholders evaluating investment decisions
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
If you are passionate about shaping the digital and service experience in the annuity and retirement space and thrive in a collaborative environment:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5+ years as a Product Manager or in a relevant role, with demonstrated ownership of complex product areas
- Proven experience independently leading cross-functional product delivery
- Experience with annuity products and/or Call Center/Contact Center service operations
- Solid understanding of digital self-service and service channel design principles
- Experience working across technology environments, including partnering with Tech Leads, Platform Leads, and Business Analysts
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working directly with Distribution partners and Clients to understand needs and shape product experience direction
- Experience managing multi-stakeholder environments with competing priorities
- Proven track record of delivering measurable business outcomes through product ownership
- Strong facilitation and influence skills; ability to align diverse stakeholders without formal authority
- Experience mentoring or guiding less experienced team members
- Demonstrated innovative thinking: comfortable challenging the status quo and proposing new approaches rather than defaulting to established practice
- Strong critical thinking brings an independent, well-reasoned point of view to complex product decisions
- Familiarity with technology, design, and AI concepts sufficient to engage credibly with Tech Leads and Platform Leads on solution approaches
- Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across the business and prioritize with discipline amid competing demands
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in financial services, insurance, or wealth management
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe, or equivalent product certification
- Experience with platform or ecosystem product management (not just feature delivery)
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture concepts sufficient to partner effectively with Tech Leads
- Experience with OKR-based portfolio management and outcome tracking

Which companies in Kansas sponsor visas for product lead roles?
The most active sponsors for product lead positions in Kansas include Garmin, headquartered in Olathe, and Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) in Kansas City, both of which have consistent H-1B visa filing histories for senior product roles. C2FO, a global fintech platform based in Leawood, and CBIZ also appear in sponsorship records. Larger enterprise employers with established HR and legal infrastructure are generally more equipped to manage the sponsorship process.
What visa types are most commonly used for product lead roles in Kansas?
The H-1B visa is the most common path for product leads, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as computer science, engineering, or business. Candidates already holding L-1B or O-1 visa status may also transfer to employers in Kansas without needing an H-1B. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals if the role aligns with qualifying USMCA occupation categories.
Which cities in Kansas have the most product lead visa sponsorship jobs?
The Kansas City metro area, particularly the Kansas-side suburbs of Overland Park, Olathe, and Leawood, accounts for the majority of product lead sponsorship activity in the state. This corridor hosts the largest concentration of tech, fintech, and healthcare IT employers. Wichita has a smaller but present product leadership market, primarily tied to aerospace and manufacturing software companies such as Spirit AeroSystems and Textron Aviation.
How to find product lead visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S., and you can filter directly for product lead roles in Kansas to see employers with active sponsorship histories. Because product lead is a senior-level role, searching for both 'product lead' and related titles like 'senior product manager' on Migrate Mate can broaden your results. Focusing on employers in the Kansas City tech corridor will give you the highest density of sponsoring companies.
Are there any state-specific considerations for product leads pursuing sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas does not impose state-level visa or work authorization requirements beyond federal standards, but prevailing wage compliance under the H-1B Labor Condition Application is determined by the specific metropolitan statistical area. Roles in the Kansas City MSA and the Wichita MSA each have distinct prevailing wage levels set by the Department of Labor. Kansas State University and the University of Kansas produce graduates who create local product talent pipelines, which means some employers in the state are already familiar with OPT and STEM OPT transitions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product lead jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
