We're Looking for an experienced Product Manager!
About the Company:
Security Benefit is a leader in the U.S. retirement market with more than $60 billion in assets under management. We offer opportunities to thrive, innovate, and make an impact. As part of our team, you’ll play a key role in driving the future of the U.S. retirement industry. Security Benefit is a PLACE where we promise to help our customers To and Through Retirement®.
We’re proud to have been recognized as one of the best in the business:
- Named to Ward’s 50 list of top-performing life-health insurance companies
- Recognized on list of Ingram’s Top 100 Private Companies in the Kansas City area in 2024
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Product Manager, you will support the Firm and Advisor Onboarding team, focused on building and maintaining digital capabilities that make enabling new firms, advisor contracting, licensing, and onboarding seamless and fast. The team’s mission is to reduce time-to-ready-to-sell by delivering integrated solutions across licensing verification, training access, digital and integrated application submissions, and contracting workflows — giving advisors rapid access to sell and service products.
This is an execution-focused product role with direct roadmap ownership for the Firm and Advisor Onboarding product. The successful candidate will own and maintain the product roadmap for this domain, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into well-defined requirements, manage backlog priorities, drive delivery, and track outcomes against defined success metrics. This PM owns a defined set of capabilities end-to-end — from discovery and roadmap through delivery and measurement.
The Product Manager position reports to the VP, Portfolio Strategy & Delivery and can be based out of our home office in Topeka or Overland Park, Kansas, or remotely for the right candidate. We work a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility to work both remotely and on-site.
Discovery & Requirements
- Conduct ongoing discovery with distribution teams, advisor-facing operations staff, contracting and licensing teams, and onboarding coordinators to identify workflow friction, process gaps, and integration improvement opportunities.
- Gather voice-of-the-customer and voice-of-the-operations insights and translate findings into clearly prioritized product requirements, epics, stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Support usability testing and validation activities to confirm that proposed solutions address identified problems before development begins.
- Define success metrics for owned capabilities and track platform performance post-launch to inform iteration.
Roadmap & Prioritization
- Define, own, and communicate the product roadmap for the Firm and Advisor Onboarding product, grounded in business outcomes and aligned to the team’s strategic priorities.
- Apply structured prioritization frameworks to evaluate product investments based on advisor impact, operational efficiency, and regulatory requirements.
- Distinguish between ongoing product capability work and time-bounded project initiatives (e.g., regulatory changes, new firm onboardings) and apply the appropriate delivery approach to each.
- Ensure requirements are fully defined, reviewed, and approved before committed development work begins — a critical discipline in a regulated, vendor-dependent delivery environment.
Delivery Execution
- Own end-to-end delivery of assigned features and capabilities, from discovery through launch and post-launch measurement.
- Write well-structured user stories and acceptance criteria; facilitate backlog grooming and sprint planning with engineering teams.
- Partner with UX and design to develop wireframes and test prototypes with users before development investment.
- Manage dependencies, surface risks proactively, and communicate delivery status clearly to stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Support integration efforts with downstream systems including licensing verification databases, training platforms, contracting tools, and digital application submission workflows.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Build strong working relationships with distribution, contracting, compliance, legal, operations, and technology teams to align on requirements and remove blockers.
- Serve as a reliable day-to-day point of contact for business stakeholders on assigned product areas, communicating tradeoffs and decisions with clarity.
- Collaborate with leadership to translate organizational goals into team-level product initiatives.
- Contribute to a culture of clarity, accountability, and continuous improvement across the delivery organization.
Analytics & Performance
- Define and track key metrics for owned capabilities.
- Apply data analysis to evaluate platform performance, surface processing insights, and make evidence-based product recommendations.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 2–5 years of experience as a Product Manager, Business Analyst, or closely related product delivery role
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
- 2–5 years in financial services, insurance, wealth management, or a similarly regulated industry with exposure to advisor onboarding, contracting, or licensing
- Demonstrated ability to independently write user stories, define acceptance criteria, and manage a product backlog
- Experience working in an agile or hybrid delivery environment alongside engineering and design teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage operations, compliance, distribution, and technical teams
- Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies
- High degree of intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and a bias toward action
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Direct experience with advisor onboarding platforms, digital contracting tools, e-signature solutions, or licensing verification systems
- Familiarity with FINRA licensing requirements, state insurance licensing workflows, or regulatory filings related to advisor contracting
- Experience with digital forms, integrated application submissions, or training access platforms in a financial services context
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Figma, Tableau, or similar product and analytics tooling
What We’re Looking For:
When you join our team, you’re not just getting a paycheck — you’re getting a career path full of growth opportunities, plus a robust benefits package that puts your well-being first. Here’s what you can expect as a full-time Security Benefit associate:

Which companies sponsor visas for product managers in Kansas?
The most active visa sponsors for product managers in Kansas include Koch Industries and its subsidiaries, Spirit AeroSystems, Oracle Health (formerly Cerner), and Garmin, which has a significant presence in the Olathe and Lenexa corridor. Larger technology-forward manufacturers and healthcare IT firms in the Kansas City metro area account for the majority of sponsored PM roles in the state.
Which visa types are most common for product manager roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for product managers in Kansas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a related field such as computer science, engineering, or business. L-1B visas also appear for product managers transferring within multinational companies, particularly in the aerospace and technology sectors where Kansas has a notable employer base.
How to find product manager visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse product manager roles in Kansas without sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by state and role type to see active openings from Kansas-based employers across Wichita, Overland Park, and the greater Kansas City metro that have a documented history of sponsoring international candidates.
Which cities in Kansas have the most product manager sponsorship jobs?
Overland Park and Lenexa, both in the Kansas City metro area, account for the largest share of sponsored product manager openings in Kansas, driven by technology, healthcare IT, and financial services employers. Wichita is the second-largest market, particularly for product managers in aerospace, manufacturing software, and industrial technology, where Spirit AeroSystems and related supply-chain firms hire for these roles.
Are there any state-specific considerations for product managers seeking visa sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas product manager roles skew heavily toward aerospace, manufacturing technology, and healthcare IT rather than consumer software, which shapes the degree requirements employers emphasize on H-1B petitions. The University of Kansas and Kansas State University supply a regional talent pipeline, and some employers in the state are familiar with sponsoring OPT-to-H-1B transitions for graduates in engineering and information systems programs. Prevailing wage requirements apply statewide and are set by the Department of Labor based on the specific metro area and job level.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product manager jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
