Which companies sponsor visas for tax associates in Kansas?
National firms with Kansas offices, including KPMG, Deloitte, and BDO, have established records of sponsoring H-1B visas for tax associates. Regional firms like FORVIS Mazars, headquartered in Kansas City, also participate in sponsorship. Larger corporate tax departments at companies in Wichita's aviation sector, including those supporting aerospace supply chains, occasionally sponsor qualified candidates as well.
Which visa types are most common for tax associate roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for tax associates in Kansas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, taxation, or a related field. Candidates with eligible degrees may also explore the OPT extension available to F-1 students, which can bridge the gap before H-1B sponsorship. CPAs with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may consider the TN visa under the USMCA agreement.
Which cities in Kansas have the most tax associate sponsorship jobs?
Wichita and the Kansas side of the Kansas City metro area account for the majority of tax associate sponsorship opportunities in the state. Wichita draws demand from manufacturing, aviation, and energy companies, while the Kansas City region hosts more accounting firm offices and corporate tax departments. Overland Park, as a major suburb with significant professional services activity, is worth focusing on within that metro.
How to find tax associate visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify tax associate roles in Kansas where employers are actively willing to sponsor. Rather than sorting through unverified postings, you can search by role and state to surface positions at accounting firms and corporate tax departments in Wichita and the Kansas City area that have documented sponsorship activity.
Are there any state-specific factors that affect tax associate sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas does not impose additional state-level requirements on visa sponsorship beyond federal obligations, but employers must comply with Department of Labor prevailing wage rules when filing a Labor Condition Application for H-1B candidates. The University of Kansas and Kansas State University produce accounting graduates who often pursue sponsorship through OPT, creating a local pipeline that some firms actively recruit from. Tax associates with CPA credentials or progress toward licensure tend to attract more sponsorship interest from firms in the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax associate jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
