Which companies sponsor visas for tax associates in Indiana?
The Big Four accounting firms, Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG, are among the most active sponsors for tax associate roles in Indiana, particularly through their Indianapolis offices. Regional firms such as Katz, Sapper and Miller and Blue and Co. also hire tax associates, though sponsorship availability varies. Large Indiana-based corporations with internal tax departments, including Eli Lilly and Salesforce's Indianapolis operations, occasionally sponsor as well.
Which visa types are most common for tax associate roles in Indiana?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for tax associates in Indiana, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, taxation, or a related field. Candidates with Optional Practical Training authorization often begin working under OPT while their employer files an H-1B petition. Some candidates with advanced degrees may be eligible for the H-1B master's cap exemption, which improves selection odds.
Which cities in Indiana have the most tax associate sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis accounts for the large majority of tax associate sponsorship opportunities in Indiana, driven by the concentration of Big Four offices, regional CPA firms, and corporate headquarters in the metro area. Fort Wayne and Bloomington have a smaller but present market, with some regional accounting firms and university-affiliated employers occasionally sponsoring candidates. Evansville has limited but non-zero activity, primarily through regional firms serving manufacturing clients.
How to find tax associate visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates looking for visa sponsorship jobs, including tax associate roles in Indiana. You can filter by state and role to see employers in Indiana who have a documented history of sponsoring international hires. This saves significant time compared to manually researching firm-by-firm sponsorship policies, which are rarely advertised clearly on standard job postings.
Are there state-specific considerations for tax associates seeking sponsorship in Indiana?
Indiana's CPA licensure requirements mean that tax associates often pursue the CPA exam while working, which can affect role classification and employer expectations. International candidates should be aware that Indiana Board of Accountancy has its own credit evaluation process for foreign degrees. Additionally, employers filing H-1B petitions for tax associates must meet the Department of Labor's prevailing wage requirements for the Indianapolis or relevant metropolitan statistical area, not a national average.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax associate jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
