Define Identity and Access Management (IAM) strategies, security baselines, and resource lifecycle policies to guide the Systems Engineering and Operations teams in secure, standardized resource provisioning.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Champion automation by establishing IaC standards and CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment, ensuring the Systems Engineering team can safely and consistently manage cloud resources.
Data & AI Architecture: Architect scalable, secure data platforms—including Data Lakes and Modern Data Warehouses—to aggregate diverse data streams. Ensure the underlying infrastructure optimized for high-performance data analytics, reporting pipelines, and advanced AI/ML modeling.
Cost Optimization & Performance Tuning: Implement FinOps practices to monitor, analyze, and optimize cloud spend while ensuring optimal system performance and scalability.
Required Qualifications:
Experience: 7+ years in IT infrastructure/architecture, with at least 3+ years specifically focused on AWS cloud architecture and large-scale migrations.
AWS Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of core AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Route 53) and specialized data/analytics services (AWS Glue, Redshift, Athena, EMR, SageMaker, Amazon Bedrock).
Automation & Provisioning: Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, AWS CDK) and configuration management.
Governance Frameworks: Proven experience setting up AWS Organizations, AWS Control Tower, and Service Control Policies (SCPs) for enterprise compliance.
Certifications: One or more of the following: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or Associate, AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional or Associate.
Preferred Skills:
-
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Amazon ECS/EKS).
-
Strong understanding of data governance, data privacy regulations, and security compliance frameworks.
-
Excellent collaboration skills to bridge the gap between technical operations teams and data science/analytics business units.

Which companies in Kansas sponsor visas for technical solutions architects?
Kansas employers with documented H-1B sponsorship histories for technical and solutions architect roles include Garmin International in Olathe, Cerner (now Oracle Health) in the Kansas City metro, Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, and Sprint (now T-Mobile) legacy operations. Financial services firms and enterprise software consultancies in Overland Park also appear regularly in Department of Labor Labor Condition Application records for this role category.
Which visa types are most common for technical solutions architect roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for technical solutions architects in Kansas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related engineering field. Candidates already authorized under L-1B intracompany transferee status or holding O-1 visas for extraordinary ability in technology may also find relevant opportunities with multinational employers operating in the state.
Which cities in Kansas have the most technical solutions architect sponsorship jobs?
Overland Park and the broader Kansas City metro area on the Kansas side account for the highest concentration of technical solutions architect sponsorship opportunities, driven by financial technology, healthcare IT, and telecommunications employers. Wichita is the secondary hub, particularly for aerospace and defense-adjacent technology roles. Olathe is notable specifically because of Garmin's large engineering campus, which consistently generates sponsorship filings for technical architecture positions.
How to find technical solutions architect visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, making it straightforward to search for technical solutions architect roles posted by Kansas employers willing to sponsor. Rather than sorting through general postings where sponsorship status is unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces roles where employers have indicated openness to H-1B and other work visa categories, which is particularly useful for this specialized role in a mid-sized state market like Kansas.
Are there any state-specific considerations for technical solutions architects seeking sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas employers filing H-1B petitions for technical solutions architects must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the Wichita or Kansas City metro wage areas, which are set at levels reflecting local market rates rather than national figures. Kansas also benefits from a pipeline of technology graduates from the University of Kansas and Kansas State University, meaning some employers are familiar with sponsoring international candidates transitioning from F-1 OPT status into full H-1B sponsorship for solutions architect roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical solutions architect jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
