Which companies sponsor visas for physical therapists in Kentucky?
The largest sponsors tend to be regional health systems with established international hiring programs. Norton Healthcare and Baptist Health in Louisville, UK HealthCare in Lexington, and Appalachian Regional Healthcare serving eastern Kentucky have all sponsored physical therapists through employment-based visa processes. Outpatient clinic networks and contract therapy staffing organizations operating statewide also appear regularly in sponsorship filings, particularly for hard-to-fill rural and suburban locations.
Which visa types are most common for physical therapist roles in Kentucky?
The H-1B visa is the most widely used visa for physical therapists in Kentucky because the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. The EB-3 immigrant visa is also common for PTs pursuing permanent residence, often following an initial nonimmigrant status. Some employers use the TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals. Internationally trained PTs must also hold a valid FSBPT license and pass the NPTE before any visa petition can proceed.
Which cities in Kentucky have the most physical therapist sponsorship jobs?
Louisville accounts for the largest share of PT sponsorship activity in Kentucky, driven by its concentration of hospital systems, rehabilitation centers, and orthopedic practices. Lexington is the second-largest market, anchored by UK HealthCare and a network of outpatient clinics near the University of Kentucky. Bowling Green and Owensboro have smaller but active hiring markets. Rural eastern and western Kentucky counties see periodic demand, though sponsoring employers there are less common.
How to find physical therapist visa sponsorship jobs in Kentucky?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters physical therapist roles in Kentucky by visa sponsorship availability, so you're not sorting through listings from employers who won't sponsor. Because PT employers in Kentucky range from large Louisville health systems to smaller outpatient clinics across the state, using a sponsorship-focused platform saves significant time. Create a profile on Migrate Mate and set alerts for Kentucky physical therapist openings to be notified when new sponsored positions are posted.
Are there state-specific licensing or hiring considerations for international physical therapists in Kentucky?
Yes. Kentucky requires physical therapists to obtain licensure through the Kentucky Board of Physical Therapy before practicing, regardless of visa status. International graduates must have their credentials evaluated for equivalency, typically through a body like FCCPT, and must pass the NPTE. The credential review and licensing process can take several months, so employers factor this timeline into their hiring plans. Sponsoring employers in Kentucky generally require proof of licensure eligibility before initiating an H-1B or EB-3 petition.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physical therapist jobs in Kentucky?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
