The position is responsible for assisting with the implementation of accommodations for students with disabilities; assisting with counseling students on academic matters; assisting with the law school’s various orientation programs; and assisting the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs on matters related to student activities and academic policy.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree and 3 years of academic advising or other substantive student affairs work or transferable experience.
OR
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree
- 3 years of higher education student program development, student counseling, or other substantive student affairs experience in higher education
- Strong student counseling and advising skills
- Understanding and familiarity with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and particularly section 504 of that Act
- Ability to develop, plan, assess, and successfully implement student programs
- Excellent verbal and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well to students, staff, and faculty
- Strong judgment and excellent problem-solving skills
- Proficient computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications (Word and Excel)
- Ability to develop, assess, and successfully implement student programs
- Basic understanding of administrative and academic issues in higher education
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work assignments
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work-related matters
