Position Description:
The Data Technician is responsible for troubleshooting JCampus issues, over the phone coaching, error corrections, and customer service for JPS stakeholders. Successful candidates will have a background in help desk support and a working knowledge of Student Information Systems (preferably JCampus).
Reports To:
Director of Data Management
Scope of Responsibility:
- Works efficiently by triaging support requests, and identifying areas for process improvements.
- Monitors various metrics and reports frequently to the Director of Data Management schools in need of support or guidance in order to improve their data quality.
- Identifies areas in need of district wide training.
- Updates User Guides and performs other clerical/ JCampus related tasks.
- Completes internal and external data requests as assigned.
- Maintains user security and assigns user rights.
- Provides support during audit periods; collects and organized audit documentation.
- Provides error correction support and training during SIS/STS.
- Fields help desk calls and logs them into the ticketing system.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Data Management
Skills and Qualifications:
We seek detail-oriented, independent self-starters who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to raising student achievement and who have a record of high performance in challenging situations. Successful candidates will also demonstrate, and/or possess:
- High School or GED.
- Assists teachers (troubleshoot) gradebook issues.
- Receive, process, investigate requests from Executive Directors, Directors, Principals etc. regarding staff security access to JCampus.
- Update and create new JCampus profiles for teachers, social workers, 504 coordinators, counselors etc. in User Management.
- Process requests to combine or delete students.
- Monitor, distribute, upload or download documents on the Data Management Ticket Management Ticket System and via email.
- Work multiple enrollment reports with other districts daily after the first SIS upload for October 1st count and throughout the year.
- Works with SIS Coordinator and department programmer with enrollment, state errors, and JCampus System issues.
- Performs any task given by the Director of Data Management.
- Provides Audit for documentation for October 1st and February 1st count to LDOE as requested.
- Acts as Security Coordinator for Jefferson Parish Schools Totally Automated Security (TAS) and provides Security Coordinators (SC’s) a web interface for security function. This web interface gives SC’s the ability to create User IDs, update a user’s access, inquire on a user, reset passwords, disable and delete user IDs, search for a user with full or partial username or user ID, report on individual users and applications, audit log viewer, access to Leads, STS, Insight, State Data Management FTP site, E-Grant Management and E-Scholar.

- Ability to manage simultaneous projects while still meeting deadlines.
Physical Involvement:
Sitting is required most of each work day. Must be able to operate office equipment. Standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 30 pounds is sometimes required. Ability to provide own transportation to schools, work locations, and meeting sites. Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations, including locations not on the ground floor.
