This position is a hybrid position (part-time remote with some in-office presence anticipated) and will be based out of our Baltimore-MD, Washington DC or Herndon-VA offices.
Your Impact
- Responsible for providing PM leadership and supporting major transportation programs and projects.
- Provide PM leadership for larger scale/more complex projects ensuring contributors know what they are required to do and by when, preparing and overseeing relevant project budgets, forecasts, margins and KPIs, monitoring external events and risk contingencies, tracking hours and expenses, ensuring satisfactory performance, and managing the contractual obligations to deliver the project or assigned portfolio of assigned project(s) as defined in the contract.
- Provide guidance and support with the development of project proposals, cost estimates, scope, schedules, and resource plans.
- Support Program and Project Managers with budget development, monitoring, Estimate to Completes (ETCs), and recovery plans, and invoices.
- Coordinate with program and project managers with change management, such as documenting scope changes or scope additions.
- Coordinate with program and project managers with quality management, such as defining quality metrics and planning quality assurance and control activities.
- Coordinate with program and project manager in developing contract change orders.
- Support subcontract development and amendments.
- Partner with management staff to maintain regular communications with the client including reporting on monthly status, safety incidents, and major issues together with scope and budget impacts.
- Manage the administration, contract compliance and key financial elements associated with multiple portfolio contracts and large scale multi-disciplinary projects.
- Assist in the development of Project Management reporting needs and tools.
- Provide continuous project management and quality program support.
- Monitor projects' progress, claims, and invoicing/payments.
- Ensure updates occur with system and process documentation including: Risk (REF/RMP), Project Management Plan (PMP), Project Quality Plan (QP), Project Safety (PSP), and Communications Plan where applicable.
- Provide regular project reporting and updates to clients, technical area, and business unit managers, identifying any emergent issues with scope, risk, and/or budget.
- Manage and provide performance guidance and leadership to assigned project management staff.
- Manage, and develop competitive grants for transportation projects.
- Supports the development of local growth, forecast and business development strategy in collaboration with District, Region, and National Business Line Leaders.
- Remain current in the latest Project Management techniques and practices (PMAP).
- Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide “trusted advisor” service and future ready solutions for clients.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Planning or a related discipline.
- 12+ years of relevant post education experience with 5+ years of experience in transportation projects.
- Proficient understanding of project delivery process within the A/E/C industry and strong background and experience in project management.
- Essential project management certification or established equivalent experience is required (e.g., PMP, CAP-M).
- Highly proficient analytical and organizational skills, with business acumen to bridge the business and project management.
- Highly proficient with critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make assessments and calculations involving the application of project management principles, with a sound understanding of intent, impact, and optimal outcomes.
- Highly proficient interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively, persuasively, and tactfully with leadership, subcontractors, and employees at all levels of the organization.
- Strong self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and adjusting readily to the changing prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Works independently to provide guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior-level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, relevant software, MS Office suite products (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint, Power Bi), technology, spreadsheets, and PM tools.
- Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating resources and assertively directing consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and others to consistently complete tasks competently and efficiently.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
