Which companies sponsor visas for project executives in Maryland?
Whiting-Turner Contracting, Clark Construction, Jacobs Engineering, HNTB, and Gilbane Building Company have all sponsored senior project leadership roles in Maryland. Large federal contractors headquartered in or near Bethesda and Rockville, including Leidos and SAIC, also hire at the project executive level and have established H-1B sponsorship programs for specialized management and technical leadership positions.
Which visa types are most common for project executive roles in Maryland?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project executives in Maryland, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, construction management, or a related field, qualifying it as a specialty occupation. Candidates from Australia may be eligible for the E-3 visa. Those with multinational management experience transferring within the same company may qualify for an L-1A visa instead.
How to find project executive visa sponsorship jobs in Maryland?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship status, making it straightforward to find project executive roles in Maryland where employers are actively open to sponsoring. Rather than sorting through general postings, you can search directly for senior project leadership positions in the Baltimore-Washington corridor from employers with a documented history of H-1B and other visa filings.
Which cities in Maryland have the most project executive sponsorship jobs?
Baltimore and the Washington, D.C. suburbs, particularly Bethesda, Rockville, and Silver Spring in Montgomery County, account for the majority of project executive openings in Maryland. Annapolis and Bowie also see activity tied to state government and federal agency projects. The I-270 technology corridor and the Port of Baltimore generate additional construction and infrastructure project leadership demand year-round.
Are there any state-specific considerations for project executives pursuing sponsorship in Maryland?
Maryland's heavy concentration of federal contracting work means many project executive roles require security clearance eligibility, which can complicate or extend the sponsorship timeline since clearances take time and are not guaranteed for foreign nationals. The state's proximity to federal agencies in the D.C. metro area also means prevailing wage requirements are benchmarked to a high-cost labor market, which employers must certify when filing an H-1B Labor Condition Application.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project executive jobs in Maryland?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
