Which companies sponsor visas for construction managers in Massachusetts?
Turner Construction, Suffolk Construction, Skanska, and Gilbane Building Company are among the larger general contractors operating in Massachusetts with documented H-1B visa sponsorship activity. Owners and developers behind major life sciences campuses, such as those in Kendall Square and the Seaport District, also sponsor through their internal project management teams. Smaller regional contractors sponsor less frequently.
Which visa types are most common for construction manager roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa for construction managers in Massachusetts, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in construction management, civil engineering, or a closely related field and the employer can demonstrate that requirement. The L-1A is used for managers transferring from a foreign affiliate. The O-1 visa applies in rare cases involving demonstrably exceptional project leadership credentials.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most construction manager sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the largest share of sponsored construction manager roles, driven by ongoing commercial, life sciences, and institutional development. Worcester is a secondary market with healthcare and university construction activity. Quincy, Waltham, and Somerville see project-level hiring tied to infrastructure and mixed-use development, though sponsorship activity outside Greater Boston is noticeably lower.
How to find construction manager visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically to roles where employers have a track record of visa sponsorship, making it easier to focus your search on construction manager positions in Massachusetts without sifting through listings from companies unlikely to sponsor. You can narrow results by location and role to find active openings at general contractors, developers, and owners' representative firms across Greater Boston and beyond.
Are there state-specific considerations for construction managers seeking sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts prevailing wage laws apply to publicly funded construction projects, which affects how employers structure LCA wage determinations for H-1B sponsored construction managers. The state's concentration of academic medical centers and universities, including Harvard, MIT, and Boston Children's Hospital, creates a steady pipeline of capital project work where licensed construction management professionals are in sustained demand from experienced institutional owners.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored construction manager jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
