Which companies sponsor visas for electrical controls engineers in Massachusetts?
Raytheon Technologies, Boston Scientific, Analog Devices, Teradyne, and Draper Laboratory are among the Massachusetts employers with documented H-1B sponsorship histories for engineering roles. Defense and aerospace contractors along the Route 128 corridor and medical device manufacturers in the Merrimack Valley corridor are particularly active sponsors. Larger firms with established immigration infrastructure are generally more likely to support the sponsorship process.
Which visa types are most common for electrical controls engineer roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa for electrical controls engineers in Massachusetts, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field. Some engineers enter through the O-1A for those with extraordinary ability. Canadians and Mexicans may qualify under the TN visa in the engineering category, which does not require an annual lottery.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most electrical controls engineer sponsorship jobs?
Greater Boston and Cambridge lead for sponsorship volume, driven by defense contractors, biotech firms, and semiconductor companies headquartered or with large operations there. Lowell and Andover in the Merrimack Valley have significant activity from medical device and industrial automation employers. Woburn, Waltham, and Lexington along the Route 128 technology corridor are also consistent sources of controls engineering openings with sponsorship potential.
How to find electrical controls engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles offering visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to search electrical controls engineer positions in Massachusetts without sorting through employers who do not sponsor. You can narrow results by location to target Greater Boston, the Route 128 corridor, or the Merrimack Valley. Migrate Mate also surfaces employer sponsorship history, which is particularly useful for controls engineering roles in defense and medical device sectors.
Are there state-specific considerations for electrical controls engineers seeking sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts has a high concentration of defense contractors subject to federal security clearance requirements, which can complicate or preclude sponsorship for certain roles before permanent residency is established. Medical device and semiconductor employers are generally more accessible to sponsored engineers. Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Northeastern University feed strong graduate pipelines into local controls engineering roles, meaning sponsored candidates often compete alongside graduates with existing work authorization through OPT.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored electrical controls engineer jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
