Which companies sponsor visas for project accountants in Massachusetts?
Construction management firms like Suffolk Construction, Skanska, and Turner Construction have sponsored project accountants in Massachusetts, as have life sciences real estate developers and large academic institutions like MIT, Harvard, and Boston University. Healthcare systems including Mass General Brigham also maintain capital project teams that hire project accountants. Sponsorship availability varies by hiring cycle and project pipeline, so it's worth researching each employer's recent H-1B filing history through DOL disclosure data.
Which visa types are most common for project accountant roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for project accountants in Massachusetts, as the role generally qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Some candidates already authorized under OPT or STEM OPT transition to H-1B through employer sponsorship. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals with a qualifying accounting degree. O-1 visas are uncommon for this role given the extraordinary ability standard.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most project accountant sponsorship jobs?
Boston is by far the strongest market, driven by ongoing construction activity, a dense cluster of universities, and a large healthcare real estate sector. Cambridge sees demand tied to biotech and academic campus expansion. Worcester has a smaller but growing pipeline connected to UMass Memorial and regional infrastructure projects. For international candidates, Boston and Cambridge offer the highest concentration of employers with established H-1B sponsorship programs and active capital project teams.
How to find project accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters project accountant roles in Massachusetts by visa sponsorship availability, so you're not sorting through listings that won't support work authorization. The platform surfaces employers who have sponsored H-1B visas for accounting and finance roles, which is more actionable than searching general job boards. Focus your search on construction, life sciences, and higher education employers, as those sectors drive most of the project accountant hiring activity in the state.
Are there state-specific considerations for project accountants seeking sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts has a high prevailing wage environment, which affects the wage level an employer must certify on the Labor Condition Application for H-1B petitions. This generally works in candidates' favor, as employers already offering competitive pay in Boston's market often meet or exceed DOL wage requirements without adjustment. The state's concentration of federally funded research institutions and public construction projects also means some employers are experienced with compliance requirements, including visa sponsorship processes for accounting staff.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project accountant jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
