Which companies sponsor visas for project accountants in Minnesota?
Construction and real estate firms drive much of the sponsorship activity for project accountants in Minnesota. Mortenson Construction, Ryan Companies, and Kraus-Anderson are among the larger employers in this space. Healthcare systems such as Mayo Clinic and M Health Fairview also hire project accountants for capital project work. Engineering firms like WSP and Stantec, with Minnesota offices, have historically filed H-1B visa petitions for accounting roles.
Which visa types are most common for project accountant roles in Minnesota?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project accountants in Minnesota, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Candidates with a Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the NAFTA/USMCA accountant category, which has no annual cap and can be a faster path to authorization than the H-1B lottery.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most project accountant sponsorship jobs?
Minneapolis and St. Paul together account for the vast majority of project accountant sponsorship jobs in Minnesota, driven by large construction, real estate, and corporate headquarters activity in the metro area. Rochester is a secondary hub, particularly for candidates interested in healthcare capital projects tied to Mayo Clinic's extensive ongoing development. Duluth sees occasional demand from infrastructure and energy-related project work.
How to find project accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates searching for visa sponsorship roles, and you can filter directly for project accountant positions in Minnesota. The platform surfaces employers who have a documented history of sponsoring work visas, which saves significant research time compared to applying broadly and discovering late in the process that sponsorship is unavailable. Setting up alerts for new Minnesota project accountant listings is a practical way to stay current.
Are there state-specific considerations for project accountants seeking sponsorship in Minnesota?
Minnesota's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program are determined by Department of Labor data for the Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington metropolitan statistical area, so employers must offer wages meeting that benchmark. The state's strong construction pipeline, partly fueled by ongoing public infrastructure investment, supports consistent demand for project accountants. Candidates with a CPA license or progress toward one tend to be more competitive, as Minnesota employers in construction and healthcare often prefer credentialed applicants for these roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project accountant jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
