Which companies sponsor visas for project accountants in Texas?
Houston-based engineering and energy firms are among the most active sponsors, including Fluor, KBR, Jacobs Engineering, and Zachry Group. In Dallas and Austin, commercial construction firms, real estate developers, and government contractors also sponsor project accountants. Large corporations with dedicated finance departments, such as those in the energy, infrastructure, and technology sectors, have established HR processes for H-1B sponsorship.
Which visa types are most common for project accountant roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project accountants in Texas, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Some candidates also enter through the TN visa if they are Canadian or Mexican nationals with qualifying credentials. Those with exceptional professional recognition may explore the O-1, though it is less common for accounting roles.
Which cities in Texas have the most project accountant sponsorship jobs?
Houston leads by volume, driven by its concentration of energy companies, engineering firms, and large-scale construction projects that routinely need project accountants to manage cost controls and financial reporting. Dallas follows, with demand coming from commercial real estate development and corporate headquarters. Austin is a growing market as technology companies and infrastructure projects expand, creating additional openings for project financial management roles.
How to find project accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S. You can filter directly for project accountant roles in Texas to see employers actively open to sponsoring. This saves significant time compared to screening general job listings where sponsorship availability is unclear. Migrate Mate also provides context on visa requirements relevant to accounting and finance roles.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for project accountants seeking visa sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects total compensation comparisons but does not change federal visa requirements. Project accountant roles tied to Texas energy and infrastructure projects often require familiarity with cost accounting standards used in oil and gas or government contracting, such as FAR compliance. Employers in Houston's petrochemical corridor and Dallas's commercial construction market tend to have well-established sponsorship processes given their history of international hiring.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project accountant jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
