Which companies sponsor visas for project accountants in Iowa?
Iowa employers with documented sponsorship history in accounting roles include Weitz Construction, Krause Group, MidAmerican Energy, and engineering firms operating across the state's infrastructure and energy sectors. Large agribusiness companies like Iowa Select Farms and regional offshoots of national construction management firms also appear in Department of Labor LCA filings for accounting positions. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and varies by role scope and employer policy.
Which visa types are most common for project accountant roles in Iowa?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project accountant roles in Iowa, as the position typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, which meets the specialty occupation standard. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under the TN visa category, since accountant is an explicitly listed TN profession. Australian nationals holding an E-3 visa may also be eligible if the role meets specialty occupation requirements.
How to find project accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify project accountant openings in Iowa where employers are actively willing to sponsor. Rather than sorting through general job postings, you can search directly for roles in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, or Davenport and filter by visa type relevant to your situation, saving significant time in your job search.
Which cities in Iowa have the most project accountant sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines accounts for the largest share of project accountant openings in Iowa, driven by its concentration of financial services firms, insurance companies, and large construction contractors. Cedar Rapids follows, with manufacturing and engineering employers generating consistent accounting demand. The Quad Cities region, particularly Davenport, also produces project accountant roles tied to manufacturing and infrastructure projects along the Mississippi corridor.
Are there any Iowa-specific factors that affect project accountant visa sponsorship?
Iowa's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program are generally lower than coastal metros, which can influence employer willingness to sponsor since compliance costs are tied to wage levels. The state's heavy reliance on construction, agribusiness, and energy industries means project accountants often work in field-adjacent roles tracking capital expenditures and contract budgets, which strengthens the specialty occupation argument for visa purposes. CPA licensure, while not always required, can improve candidacy.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project accountant jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
