Which companies in Wisconsin sponsor visas for project accountants?
Wisconsin employers that have sponsored project accountants include large construction and infrastructure firms such as Mortenson Construction and Michels Corporation, engineering consultancies, and major health systems like Advocate Aurora Health and UW Health. Manufacturing companies with significant capital project pipelines, including those in the Fox Valley and Milwaukee metro areas, also hire project accountants and have documented sponsorship histories with the Department of Labor.
Which visa types are most common for project accountant roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for project accountants in Wisconsin, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Some candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship pursue the TN visa under the USMCA, which covers accountants as a listed profession and does not require lottery selection.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most project accountant sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee generates the highest volume of project accountant openings in Wisconsin, driven by its concentration of construction, engineering, and financial services firms. Madison follows closely, supported by state government contractors, university-affiliated projects, and a growing tech sector. Green Bay and Appleton in the Fox Valley region also produce consistent demand through manufacturing and infrastructure project work.
How to find project accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to filter project accountant roles in Wisconsin by sponsorship willingness. Because sponsorship is not always advertised explicitly, Migrate Mate cross-references employer H-1B filing history with active listings, helping you focus on Wisconsin firms that have a documented record of sponsoring project accountants rather than applying broadly.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for project accountants seeking visa sponsorship?
Wisconsin's construction and infrastructure sector drives significant demand for project accountants, particularly for firms managing federally funded projects where prevailing wage compliance is closely tied to the role. The University of Wisconsin System also creates a pipeline of accounting talent that influences local hiring expectations. Employers in Wisconsin typically require familiarity with job cost accounting software and may expect experience with AIA billing formats common in the construction industry.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project accountant jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
