About Etched
Etched is building hardware for frontier intelligence. We co-design chips, racks, software, and manufacturing to deliver best-in-class throughput and latency across both prefill and decode workloads. Our first products are heavily focused on inference. Backed by hundreds of millions from top-tier investors and staffed by leading engineers, Etched is redefining the infrastructure layer for the fastest growing industry in history.
Job Summary
We're looking for a technically exceptional accounting leader to own our external financial reporting and equity accounting functions as we scale. You'll lead our SEC reporting process, oversee equity accounting, and help build the reporting infrastructure, controls, and systems that enable a fast-growing public-company-ready finance organization. This is a high-impact opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex technical accounting challenges while building processes from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Own stock-based compensation accounting, equity reconciliations, EPS and dilution calculations, and equity-related SEC disclosures.
- Partner with Payroll, Legal, and Stock Administration to ensure accurate recording of equity transactions and alignment between the cap table, equity systems, and general ledger.
- Lead the preparation and filing of Forms 10-Q, 10-K, financial statement footnotes, MD&A, XBRL tagging, and other SEC reporting requirements.
- Serve as the primary accounting partner for external auditors, maintain SOX controls, and evaluate new accounting standards and SEC reporting requirements.
- Lead the selection, implementation, and optimization of Workiva (or a similar reporting platform), building scalable reporting workflows and automating manual processes.
- Research and document technical accounting positions for complex transactions, including equity modifications and other non-routine accounting matters.
You may be a good fit if you have
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA required (or actively pursuing).
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant exposure to SEC reporting (public company or Big 4/public accounting with SEC clients).
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and XBRL.
- Hands-on experience with equity accounting (stock-based compensation, EPS, APIC roll-forwards).
- Experience with external reporting/disclosure management software Workiva or alternatives.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite).
Strong candidates may also have experience with
- Big 4 public accounting.
- Experience with equity management platforms (Carta, Shareworks, Equity Edge, Fidelity, or Solium).
- Prior experience leading a system implementation or process improvement initiative.
- Experience in a high-growth or newly public company environment.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines during close periods.
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision packages with generous premium coverage
- $500 per month credit for waiving medical benefits
- Housing subsidy of $2k per month for those living within walking distance of the office
- Relocation support for those moving to San Jose (Santana Row)
- Various wellness benefits covering fitness, mental health, and more
- Daily lunch and dinner in our office
- Unlimited compute budget subject to ROI justification
How we’re different
Etched believes in the Bitter Lesson. We are the first inference-focused frontier AI system, betting early on transformer and transformer-like architectures and on increasing model sizes. Our addressable market is the entirety of inference, unlike many of our competitors.
We are a fully in-person team in San Jose (Santana Row), and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both and work across disciplines as needed.

Which companies sponsor visas for project accountants in California?
Large construction firms such as Bechtel, Turner Construction, and Webcor Builders, along with major engineering consultancies like AECOM and Jacobs, have sponsored project accountants in California. Real estate development companies and government contractors operating in the Bay Area and Southern California also appear regularly in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for this role.
Which visa types are most common for project accountant roles in California?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for project accountants in California, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, qualifying it as a specialty occupation. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may also pursue TN visa status under the USMCA, which covers accountants as a designated professional category.
Which cities in California have the most project accountant sponsorship jobs?
Los Angeles and San Francisco account for the largest share of project accountant sponsorship activity in California, driven by major construction pipelines, commercial real estate development, and corporate headquarters. San Diego sees consistent demand from defense contractors and biotech construction projects, while Sacramento has growing public-sector infrastructure work that generates project accounting roles.
How to find project accountant visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, so you can search project accountant roles in California without sorting through positions that don't support work authorization. The platform aggregates openings from employers with documented sponsorship history, which is particularly useful in California where construction and tech firms post frequently but sponsorship willingness varies significantly by company.
Are there any California-specific considerations for project accountants seeking visa sponsorship?
California's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program are generally higher than the national average, reflecting the state's elevated cost of living, particularly in the Bay Area and Los Angeles. Employers must attest to paying the prevailing wage set by the Department of Labor for the specific metropolitan area, so project accountants should expect offers calibrated to their work location's wage level rather than a statewide figure.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project accountant jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
