Which companies sponsor visas for technical support roles in Massachusetts?
Large technology and life sciences employers in Massachusetts with documented H-1B sponsorship histories include HubSpot, Wayfair, Biogen, MathWorks, and Akamai Technologies. Enterprise software firms and cybersecurity companies concentrated in the Boston and Route 128 corridor also regularly sponsor technical support engineers. Checking Department of Labor LCA disclosure data lets you verify which employers have filed for technical support positions specifically.
Which visa types are most common for technical support roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa for technical support roles in Massachusetts, provided the position qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. Roles such as technical support engineer or systems support analyst tend to meet this standard more reliably than generalist help desk positions. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical roles, and L-1B visas cover intracompany transfers with specialized knowledge.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most technical support sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the largest share of sponsored technical support openings in Massachusetts, driven by the concentration of technology companies, research institutions, and startups in those cities. Waltham and Burlington, both along the Route 128 corridor, are also significant hubs where enterprise software and networking firms cluster. Worcester has a smaller but growing technology presence, particularly tied to its higher education institutions.
How to find technical support visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters technical support roles in Massachusetts by visa sponsorship history, so you're not sorting through listings from employers unlikely to sponsor. The platform focuses on H-1B and other work visa categories, which is particularly useful given that technical support roles vary widely in whether they qualify as specialty occupations. Filtering by Massachusetts lets you target the Boston metro and Route 128 corridor where sponsoring employers are concentrated.
Are there any Massachusetts-specific considerations for technical support visa sponsorship?
Massachusetts has a high cost of living, and H-1B prevailing wage requirements are calculated using regional wage data, meaning employers must meet wage levels benchmarked to the Boston metro or the specific county where you work. This can work in your favor, as prevailing wages in Massachusetts are generally higher than national averages. The state's strong university pipeline, particularly from MIT, Northeastern, and UMass, means employers in the area are accustomed to sponsoring international candidates for technical roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical support jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
