Search Technical Support Jobs in OregonTechnical Support Jobs in Oregon: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for technical support roles in Oregon?
Intel is one of Oregon's largest sponsors for technical support positions, particularly at its Hillsboro campus. Other active sponsors include Nike at its Beaverton headquarters, Daimler Trucks North America in Portland, and various SaaS and managed services companies in the Portland metro. Sponsorship activity tends to concentrate in firms with established international hiring programs and dedicated HR compliance teams.
Which visa types are most common for technical support roles in Oregon?
The H-1B visa is the most frequently used visa for technical support roles in Oregon, particularly for positions requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. The TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical roles. Some employers also use the L-1B for intracompany transferees moving into Oregon-based support positions from overseas offices.
Which cities in Oregon have the most technical support sponsorship jobs?
Portland and the surrounding Washington County corridor, including Hillsboro and Beaverton, account for the majority of technical support sponsorship activity in Oregon. Hillsboro is particularly notable due to Intel's large semiconductor manufacturing and R&D presence. Eugene has a smaller but active technology sector connected to the University of Oregon, and Bend has seen growing tech employer presence in recent years.
How to find technical support visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate is specifically designed to help international job seekers find visa sponsorship roles, including technical support positions filtered by state. You can browse Oregon-specific listings on Migrate Mate to identify employers who have actively sponsored visas in the past. Filtering by role and location helps you focus outreach on companies in Hillsboro, Portland, and Beaverton, where technical support sponsorship is most concentrated.
Are there state-specific considerations for technical support sponsorship in Oregon?
Oregon does not impose additional state-level work visa requirements beyond federal rules, but prevailing wage compliance under Department of Labor standards is particularly relevant given the cost of living in the Portland metro area. The strong presence of semiconductor and hardware companies, especially around Hillsboro, means technical support roles often require specialized knowledge in those industries. Oregon State University and Portland State University also produce graduates who feed directly into regional technical support pipelines.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical support jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
