Which companies sponsor visas for clinical medical assistants in Michigan?
Michigan's largest health systems are the most active sponsors for clinical medical assistant roles. Henry Ford Health, Beaumont Health (now Corewell Health), Michigan Medicine, and McLaren Health Care have established international hiring processes and HR teams experienced with work visa petitions. Federally qualified health centers and multi-specialty outpatient groups in the Detroit metro area also sponsor, though less consistently than major hospital systems.
Which visa types are most common for clinical medical assistant roles in Michigan?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway, but it requires the employer to classify the role as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree, which can be a challenge for some clinical medical assistant positions. Employers sometimes pursue TN visas for Canadian or Mexican nationals when applicable. Candidates already holding work authorization through OPT, a spousal EAD, or another status may have more straightforward access to these roles.
Which cities in Michigan have the most clinical medical assistant sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its surrounding suburbs, including Dearborn, Royal Oak, and Troy, account for the largest share of clinical medical assistant sponsorship opportunities in Michigan, driven by the concentration of major health systems there. Grand Rapids is the second-largest hub, with Corewell Health and Spectrum Health operating extensive clinic networks. Lansing and Ann Arbor round out the top cities, supported by state government health facilities and the University of Michigan health system respectively.
How to find clinical medical assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for international job seekers and filters clinical medical assistant roles in Michigan by visa sponsorship status, saving you from manually researching each employer. Search for clinical medical assistant positions filtered to Michigan, and prioritize applications to large health systems and multi-specialty groups, which are more likely to have dedicated immigration support. Reviewing active job listings on Migrate Mate also helps you identify which employers are currently hiring and sponsoring.
Are there state-specific considerations for clinical medical assistant visa sponsorship in Michigan?
Michigan does not require a state license specifically for clinical medical assistants, but employers frequently prefer or require national certification such as CMA (AAMA) or RMA credentials, which can strengthen a sponsorship case by demonstrating specialized competency. Michigan Medicine and other academic medical centers connected to Michigan's research universities tend to have more structured international hiring pipelines than smaller independent practices, making them worth targeting for candidates seeking sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored clinical medical assistant jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
