Which companies sponsor visas for clinical medical assistants in Oregon?
Large health systems are the most consistent visa sponsors for clinical medical assistants in Oregon. Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), Providence Health & Services, Legacy Health, and PeaceHealth have the staffing scale and HR infrastructure to support H-1B visa or other work visa petitions. Smaller independent clinics and private practices rarely sponsor due to the administrative cost involved.
Which visa types are most common for clinical medical assistant roles in Oregon?
Clinical medical assistant roles in Oregon most commonly see H-1B sponsorship when the position requires a bachelor's degree in a specific health science field. Candidates on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT extensions can work while a sponsoring employer files an H-1B petition. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying healthcare occupations, though eligibility depends on the specific role and credential requirements.
Which cities in Oregon have the most clinical medical assistant sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the largest share of clinical medical assistant sponsorship opportunities in Oregon, driven by OHSU, Legacy Health, and Providence's regional headquarters there. Salem and Eugene also have active hiring through local hospital systems and federally qualified health centers. Bend has seen growing demand as Central Oregon's healthcare infrastructure has expanded with population growth.
How to find clinical medical assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify Oregon clinical medical assistant roles where employers are open to sponsoring international candidates. Rather than sorting through general job postings, you can browse roles already tagged for sponsorship support. Focusing on large health systems in Portland, Salem, and Eugene will generally yield the strongest pool of sponsoring employers.
Are there state-specific factors that affect clinical medical assistant visa sponsorship in Oregon?
Oregon's certificate of need regulations and its strong emphasis on community and rural health access have concentrated clinical medical assistant hiring within large integrated health networks rather than standalone clinics. These networks are more likely to have immigration counsel on retainer. Oregon also has several federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas, particularly in rural counties, where employers may have additional motivation to recruit internationally trained candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored clinical medical assistant jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
