Which companies sponsor visas for data science analysts in Michigan?
Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Stellantis, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan are among the most active H-1B sponsors for data science and analytics roles in the state. Michigan-based health systems like Henry Ford Health and Beaumont Health also sponsor data science analysts. Auto suppliers such as Aptiv and Lear Corporation have filed LCAs for similar quantitative roles as well.
Which visa types are most common for data science analyst roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa for data science analysts in Michigan, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in statistics, computer science, mathematics, or a related field. Candidates with a master's degree may benefit from the advanced degree exemption during H-1B registration. OPT and STEM OPT are also widely used by recent graduates before an employer files an H-1B petition.
Which cities in Michigan have the most data science analyst sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its surrounding metro area, including Dearborn and Southfield, account for the largest share of data science analyst sponsorship jobs in Michigan, driven by automotive and insurance sector demand. Ann Arbor is the second-strongest market, anchored by the University of Michigan and a growing tech and startup community. Grand Rapids has a smaller but emerging presence, particularly in healthcare analytics.
How to find data science analyst visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find data science analyst roles in Michigan where employers are open to sponsoring. You can browse by state and role type to surface positions at automotive companies, health systems, and tech firms across Detroit, Ann Arbor, and beyond. This saves significant time compared to manually screening postings that don't disclose sponsorship status.
Are there any Michigan-specific factors that affect data science analyst visa sponsorship?
Michigan's heavy concentration in automotive manufacturing means many data science analyst roles involve engineering-adjacent work, which strengthens the specialty occupation case for H-1B purposes. The University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and Wayne State University produce large pipelines of international STEM graduates who transition directly into Michigan employer sponsorships. Prevailing wage levels for data science roles in the Detroit metro differ from Ann Arbor, so the certified LCA wage will vary depending on the worksite location.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data science analyst jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
