Which companies sponsor visas for data science analysts in Virginia?
Federal contractors and technology firms dominate visa sponsorship for data science analysts in Virginia. Booz Allen Hamilton, Leidos, SAIC, Peraton, and General Dynamics IT have consistent sponsorship track records, as do technology employers like Amazon Web Services, Capital One, and Freddie Mac. Defense-adjacent analytics firms concentrated in the Northern Virginia and Arlington corridor also appear frequently in Department of Labor LCA filings for data science roles.
Which visa types are most common for data science analyst roles in Virginia?
The H-1B is the most common visa for data science analysts in Virginia. Data science analyst roles typically qualify as specialty occupations because they require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field such as statistics, computer science, or mathematics. Some employers also sponsor the O-1A for candidates with demonstrated expertise, and recent graduates on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT frequently transition into H-1B sponsorship through Virginia-based employers.
Which cities in Virginia have the most data science analyst sponsorship jobs?
Northern Virginia, particularly the cities of Arlington, McLean, Reston, and Herndon, concentrates the majority of data science analyst sponsorship opportunities in the state. This corridor houses a large cluster of federal agencies, defense contractors, and cloud technology companies. Richmond has a smaller but growing market, anchored by financial services firms and health systems, while Charlottesville sees demand from the University of Virginia health and research ecosystem.
How to find data science analyst visa sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters data science analyst roles in Virginia by visa sponsorship history, so you are not sorting through postings from employers who do not sponsor. Virginia's market skews heavily toward federal contractors and technology firms, so filtering by those industries on Migrate Mate will surface the employers most likely to have active sponsorship programs and familiarity with H-1B petitions for analytical roles.
Are there state-specific considerations for data science analysts seeking sponsorship in Virginia?
Virginia's high concentration of federal contractors introduces one important consideration: many roles require security clearances, which are generally available only to U.S. citizens or permanent residents, effectively limiting sponsorship eligibility for those positions. However, a large share of commercial and unclassified analytics roles at the same employers do not carry this restriction. Virginia also benefits from a strong university pipeline through George Mason University, the University of Virginia, and Virginia Tech, which gives employers familiarity with F-1 to H-1B transitions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data science analyst jobs in Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
