- Build clear, user-friendly dashboards and reports that help teams understand operational data.
- Assist in automating data flows between systems using established data pipelines.
-
Help troubleshoot data issues in SCADA feeds and Historian platforms with senior guidance.
-
Data Quality & Transformation:
- Support efforts to standardize, validate, and clean incoming data; document data definitions.

Work with team members to design, test and implement automation using both traditional and emerging tools.
-
Collaboration & Process:
- Work with IT and business partners to maintain OT applications and integrations.
- Participate in change management, UAT, and rollout activities; keep stakeholders informed on status and next steps.
- Contribute to documentation of data flows, process maps, and system diagrams.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

- Experience with one or more: Grafana, Power BI, Spotfire, or Plotly.
- Scripting in Python or PowerShell for light automation.
- Familiarity with databases (Postgres/Timescale, Snowflake, MSSQL) and data modeling concepts.
- Exposure to SCADA/IoT systems or time-series data and Historian tools is a plus, not required.
- Understanding of oil & gas operational concepts is a plus, not required.

Which companies sponsor visas for data science analysts in Alabama?
Employers with documented H-1B visa sponsorship histories for data science roles in Alabama include Regions Financial Corporation in Birmingham, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Boeing and its defense contractors in Huntsville, and ADTRAN. Healthcare systems such as Huntsville Hospital and state government-affiliated research institutions have also filed Labor Condition Applications for analytical positions, though sponsorship activity varies by hiring cycle and business need.
Which visa types are most common for data science analyst roles in Alabama?
The H-1B is the most common visa for data science analysts in Alabama, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in statistics, computer science, mathematics, or a related field. Some candidates transition from F-1 OPT or STEM OPT, which allows up to three years of work authorization. Employers in defense sectors may have additional citizenship or clearance requirements that affect international hiring.
Which cities in Alabama have the most data science analyst sponsorship jobs?
Huntsville leads Alabama for data science analyst sponsorship activity, driven by its concentration of aerospace, defense, and federal contractors. Birmingham follows closely, anchored by financial services firms, UAB's research enterprise, and a growing technology sector. Montgomery sees smaller but consistent demand through state government agencies and insurance companies. Tuscaloosa has emerging opportunities tied to the University of Alabama and advanced manufacturing analytics.
How to find data science analyst visa sponsorship jobs in Alabama?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters data science analyst positions in Alabama by visa sponsorship history, so you're not wasting time on employers unlikely to sponsor. The platform surfaces roles from companies with H-1B filing records, letting you focus your applications on organizations in Huntsville's defense corridor, Birmingham's finance sector, and UAB's research operations that have demonstrably sponsored international talent before.
Are there state-specific considerations for data science analysts pursuing sponsorship in Alabama?
Alabama's defense and aerospace sector, concentrated around Huntsville's Cummings Research Park, often requires security clearances that can restrict sponsorship eligibility for non-citizens or non-permanent residents. Outside defense, the state's lower cost of living means prevailing wage benchmarks are generally set below those in coastal tech markets, which can influence how employers budget for the full cost of H-1B sponsorship. UAB and Alabama universities also generate a consistent pipeline of STEM OPT candidates employers are already familiar with.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data science analyst jobs in Alabama?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
