Which companies in Michigan sponsor visas for personal assistants?
Michigan's largest employers, including Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Stellantis, and Beaumont Health, have established HR infrastructure capable of supporting visa sponsorship for administrative and personal assistant roles. Large professional services firms and law offices in Detroit and Grand Rapids occasionally sponsor as well. Sponsorship is more common at organizations with dedicated legal and immigration compliance teams than at smaller private households or boutique firms.
Which visa types are most common for personal assistant roles in Michigan?
The H-1B visa is the most widely recognized sponsorship path, but personal assistant roles can face scrutiny under the specialty occupation requirement, which demands a direct link between the position and a specific bachelor's degree field. Candidates with degrees in business administration, communications, or organizational management are better positioned. The O-1 visa applies for individuals with extraordinary ability, and the TN visa is available to qualified Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible categories.
Which cities in Michigan have the most personal assistant sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its surrounding suburbs, including Dearborn, Troy, and Southfield, account for the majority of personal assistant sponsorship opportunities in Michigan, driven by the concentration of automotive, financial, and legal employers headquartered there. Grand Rapids is a secondary market with growth in healthcare and manufacturing administration. Ann Arbor, home to the University of Michigan, also generates demand through its academic and research institutions.
How to find personal assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates searching for visa sponsorship roles in the U.S. You can filter directly by state and role to surface personal assistant positions in Michigan where employers have a history of sponsoring work visas. This is more efficient than broad job searches, since Migrate Mate focuses on sponsorship-verified listings rather than requiring you to sort through employers unlikely to support international candidates.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for personal assistants seeking visa sponsorship?
Michigan employers sponsoring H-1B workers for personal assistant roles must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the Detroit-Warren-Dearborn or Grand Rapids metropolitan areas, which are set based on the specific occupation classification. Roles classified under general office support categories carry different wage floors than those classified under management or business operations. Candidates at universities like Michigan State or the University of Michigan may find additional pathways through OPT or campus-affiliated employers familiar with international hiring.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored personal assistant jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
