Which companies in Michigan sponsor visas for project program managers?
Ford Motor Company, General Motors, and Stellantis are among the most active sponsors for project program manager roles in Michigan, frequently filing H-1B visa petitions for program management positions tied to vehicle development, electrification, and IT transformation. Large suppliers like Aptiv and Magna International, along with healthcare systems such as Henry Ford Health and Beaumont Health, also have documented sponsorship histories for these roles.
Which visa types are most common for project program managers in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for project program managers in Michigan, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as engineering, business, or information systems. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the NAFTA/USMCA professional category. Those with extraordinary achievement in program management may explore the O-1 visa, though this requires substantial documented recognition.
How to find project program manager visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse project program manager roles in Michigan without manually screening hundreds of postings. You can narrow results to Michigan-based employers in automotive, technology, and healthcare sectors, all of which are active sponsors in this state. Migrate Mate saves significant time for international candidates on OPT or H-1B timelines.
Which cities in Michigan have the most project program manager sponsorship jobs?
Dearborn and Detroit lead in volume due to the headquarters presence of Ford and Stellantis and their dense supplier ecosystems. Ann Arbor is a strong secondary market, driven by the University of Michigan's research partnerships, Pfizer's operations, and a growing tech sector. Warren and Auburn Hills also generate consistent demand through General Motors' technical center and Stellantis engineering facilities respectively.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for project program managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Michigan's automotive industry ties program management roles closely to engineering and manufacturing functions, meaning employers often expect project program managers to hold technical degrees rather than general business credentials. This matters for H-1B specialty occupation determinations. The University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and Wayne State University produce a significant share of sponsored candidates in this role, so OPT pipelines into Michigan automotive and technology employers are well established.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project program manager jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
