Which companies sponsor visas for supply chain roles in Michigan?
Michigan's largest visa sponsors for supply chain positions include Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Stellantis, Whirlpool, and Lear Corporation. Third-party logistics providers and automotive suppliers operating in the Detroit metro area also sponsor regularly. Sponsorship is most common for specialized roles in procurement, demand planning, and global sourcing rather than entry-level warehouse or coordinator positions.
Which visa types are most common for supply chain roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa for supply chain professionals in Michigan, covering roles like supply chain analyst, procurement specialist, and operations manager that require a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Canadian citizens may qualify for the TN visa under the NAFTA/USMCA professional category. Supply chain roles at multinational automotive firms can also support L-1 transfers for employees moving from a foreign affiliate.
Which cities in Michigan have the most supply chain sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its surrounding metro counties, including Dearborn, Auburn Hills, and Warren, account for the majority of Michigan's supply chain sponsorship activity due to the concentration of automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. Grand Rapids is a secondary hub with a strong manufacturing and distribution presence. Lansing and Ann Arbor also see sponsorship activity tied to manufacturing operations and university-affiliated research roles.
How to find supply chain visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters supply chain roles in Michigan by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're not sifting through listings from employers who won't sponsor. Focus your search on automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and third-party logistics firms headquartered in the Detroit metro. Roles with titles like procurement analyst, supply chain engineer, or demand planner are the most likely to come with H-1B sponsorship.
Are there any Michigan-specific factors that affect supply chain visa sponsorship?
Michigan's supply chain hiring is heavily tied to automotive production cycles, meaning demand for sponsored roles can shift with plant schedules and model-year launches. Several large Michigan employers are also H-1B-dependent firms under federal definitions, which requires them to meet additional attestation requirements when sponsoring. Michigan State University and University of Michigan produce supply chain graduates who enter the OPT pipeline, creating competition but also signaling which employers are accustomed to sponsoring international hires.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored supply chain jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
