Job Title: Senior Manager of Data Engineering & Analytics
Job Description:
Trystar is at the forefront of advancing power solutions, charged and driven by a committed, dynamic team, tackling complex challenges, and creating innovative solutions. We’re looking for motivated, driven, and talented individuals eager to be part of the future of power. Safety and integrity aren’t just buzzwords, they are the north star guiding us as we aspire to wow our customers every day. We’ve created power solutions that are not only durable and unique but are also the result of exciting teamwork from every corner of our organization.
Individually and collectively, every team member at Trystar plays for each other and strives to deliver unmatched value and 100% accuracy to our customers every single day. Our cutting-edge headquarters is in Faribault, MN, a facility that is partially solar and wind powered by our own microgrid! Together, we are Trystar, where we power the future and nurture innovation for a brighter tomorrow.
Trystar’s team members are our most important asset, and we are in search of a Senior Manager of Data Engineering & Analytics based at our Burnsville office.
Reporting to the Head of Digital, the Senior Manager of Data Engineering & Analytics will be building something from the ground up, and we need someone who thrives in that environment: moving fast, rallying people, and delivering real business outcomes without waiting for perfect conditions!
This role requires a credible enterprise leader who can influence across functions — from manufacturing operations and supply chain to finance and executive leadership — earning trust through expertise, communication, and results.
We are looking for people who believe in our guiding principles and values of:
- Safety – We believe everyone should leave Trystar facilities in the same or better condition than when they arrived.
- Integrity – We’re honest, transparent, and committed to doing what’s right.
- Customer focus – We have relentless focus on our customers and their success.
- Right with speed – We use good judgement, make thoughtful decisions quickly, and execute them with purpose and intensity.
- Play for each other – We’re a team. We show up for each other and we know that through teamwork we achieve greatness.
- Champion change – We know adaptation and improvement are requirements to survive and to thrive.
- Enjoy the journey – We create an environment where our team feels appreciated and has fun along the way.
In this role you will get to:
Enterprise Data Strategy & Architecture
- Define and execute Trystar’s enterprise data strategy aligned with business objectives, leveraging Microsoft Fabric as the core analytics and data platform.
- Design and own the enterprise data architecture, including OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, and data integration patterns within the Fabric ecosystem.
- Establish and enforce a scalable data governance framework — including data quality standards, data cataloging, master data management, metadata management, and data lineage.
- Define data ownership, stewardship roles, and policies across the organization.
Data Engineering & Analytics
- Build and manage modern data pipelines with medallion architecture using Microsoft Fabric Pipelines, and related services.
- Oversee the development of semantic models, Power BI reports, dashboards, and self-service analytics capabilities that drive decision-making across the business.
- Ensure data solutions are performant, secure, and cost-optimized — monitoring capacity, refresh schedules, and resource consumption.
- Deliver analytics solutions that serve manufacturing, supply chain, finance, sales, and executive stakeholders with timely, trusted data.
Team Building & Leadership
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team of internal data professionals (engineers, analysts, architects) and manage external contractors and consultants.
- Set clear expectations, provide regular coaching, and create development plans that grow individual contributors into stronger practitioners.
- Foster a team culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement — one that reflects Trystar’s Play For Each Other value.
Change Management & Cross-Functional Influence
- Be a Champion for the adoption of data-driven decision-making across the organization. Lead change management efforts to shift mindsets, behaviors, and processes toward enterprise data maturity.
- Build strong partnerships with leaders across operations, engineering, finance, sales, and supply chain to understand their data needs and deliver solutions that create measurable value.
- Communicate complex data concepts in clear, business-friendly language to stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Senior Leadership on data strategy, emerging technologies, and platform investments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in enterprise data management, spanning data governance, data architecture, data engineering, and data analytics.
- 3+ years of people leadership experience, including managing both FTEs and contractors/consultants.
- Deep, hands-on expertise in implementing medallion architecture with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks or Similar platform — including OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Data Factory, Synapse Data Engineering, and Power BI.
- Strong command of data modeling (dimensional, entity-relationship, semantic), ETL/ELT design patterns, and data quality frameworks.
- Proficient in writing SQL, Pyspark, and DAX.
- Demonstrated ability to build and scale data teams and capabilities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
- Proven track record of leading organizational change management related to data and analytics adoption.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and translate technical concepts into business outcomes.
Preferred skills:
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or supply chain environment.
- Experience with ERP, CRM & other SAAS systems.
- Microsoft certifications in Fabric Analytics Engineer (DP-600), Azure Data Engineer (DP-203), or Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300).
- Familiarity with ERP data environments (e.g., Epicor, SAP, or similar).
- Experience with real-time analytics, streaming data, and IoT data integration.
- Background in implementing data governance tools such as Microsoft Purview.
- Experience operating in a private equity-backed or high-growth company where speed and accountability are paramount.
- Working knowledge of Agile or Scrum delivery methodologies in a data context.
Additional Information:
- Position may require up to 10% travel.
This is not a “maintain what exists” role. Trystar is in a transformational moment — backed by Blackstone, scaling rapidly, and investing in the digital and data capabilities to match. The Senior Manager of Data Engineering & Analytics will have the mandate and the support to build Trystar’s data function the right way, with real executive sponsorship and a direct line to Digital & IT leadership. If you’re the kind of leader who would rather build than inherit — and you can do it at speed — this is your opportunity.

Which companies sponsor visas for analytics engineers in Minnesota?
Target, UnitedHealth Group, Medtronic, U.S. Bancorp, and Best Buy are among the larger Minnesota employers with consistent H-1B sponsorship histories in data and analytics roles. Mid-size companies in the health tech and fintech sectors around Minneapolis also file LCAs for analytics engineer positions. Sponsorship activity is most concentrated in the Twin Cities metro.
Which visa types are most common for analytics engineer roles in Minnesota?
The H-1B is the most common visa for analytics engineers in Minnesota, given that the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, statistics, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates already on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT extensions often transition to H-1B sponsorship through Minnesota employers. L-1B transfers are also used when candidates relocate from multinational companies.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most analytics engineer sponsorship jobs?
Minneapolis and Saint Paul together account for the large majority of analytics engineer sponsorship opportunities in Minnesota. The broader Twin Cities metro, including suburbs like Plymouth, Eden Prairie, and Minnetonka, hosts many corporate headquarters in healthcare, retail, and financial services. Rochester has a smaller but notable presence through Mayo Clinic, which hires for healthcare data roles.
How to find analytics engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse analytics engineer roles in Minnesota without sorting through positions that don't sponsor. The platform surfaces openings from employers in the Twin Cities and beyond that have active sponsorship histories. Searching by role and state on Migrate Mate saves significant time compared to manually vetting individual job postings.
Are there state-specific factors analytics engineers should know when pursuing sponsorship in Minnesota?
Minnesota's strong university pipeline, particularly from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, means employers are familiar with hiring international graduates into data roles. The state's concentration of Fortune 500 companies in healthcare and retail creates recurring analytics engineering demand. Employers filing H-1B petitions must pay the Department of Labor prevailing wage for the role and location, which applies to all sponsored positions in the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored analytics engineer jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
