Which companies in Minnesota sponsor visas for corporate accountants?
Several large Minnesota-headquartered employers have established H-1B sponsorship track records for accounting roles. Target Corporation, UnitedHealth Group, 3M, U.S. Bancorp, and Ameriprise Financial have all filed Labor Condition Applications for corporate accountant positions in recent years. Regional public accounting firms and healthcare networks like Mayo Clinic and Allina Health also sponsor qualified candidates, particularly for senior financial reporting and analysis roles.
What visa types are most commonly used for corporate accountant roles in Minnesota?
The H-1B is the most common visa for corporate accountants in Minnesota, as accounting roles that require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance typically qualify as specialty occupations. Candidates with a CPA license and relevant experience may also explore the O-1 if they meet extraordinary ability criteria. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican citizens working in accountant roles, which are explicitly listed on the NAFTA/USMCA qualifying occupations schedule.
How to find corporate accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters corporate accountant openings in Minnesota by visa sponsorship willingness, saving you the time of screening out employers who won't sponsor. You can browse current Minnesota listings directly on Migrate Mate to identify which Twin Cities employers are actively hiring accountants and have a demonstrated history of H-1B or TN sponsorship for finance roles.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most corporate accountant sponsorship jobs?
Minneapolis and Saint Paul account for the overwhelming majority of corporate accountant sponsorship opportunities in Minnesota. The Minneapolis central business district hosts headquarters for Target, U.S. Bancorp, and Ameriprise, while the broader Twin Cities metro includes Minnetonka and Eden Prairie, where several Fortune 500 subsidiaries maintain large finance operations. Rochester is a secondary market, driven largely by Mayo Clinic's substantial accounting and financial analysis departments.
Are there any Minnesota-specific considerations for corporate accountants seeking visa sponsorship?
Minnesota's Department of Labor sets prevailing wage guidance that employers must meet when filing a Labor Condition Application for an H-1B corporate accountant. Candidates with a CPA license issued by the Minnesota Board of Accountancy, or those eligible for CPA reciprocity from another state, are more competitive because licensure signals specialty occupation credibility to USCIS. The University of Minnesota and Carlson School of Management also produce accounting graduates who sometimes transition from OPT into sponsored roles at Twin Cities employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored corporate accountant jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
