Sponsorship practices vary by role and business unit, so confirming active STEM OPT authorization with each employer's HR team during the application process is important.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most technology F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Minneapolis and Saint Paul account for the majority of technology STEM OPT sponsorship opportunities in Minnesota, driven by the concentration of corporate headquarters, health tech firms, and financial services companies in the metro. Bloomington, Eden Prairie, and Minnetonka also host significant technology employers. Rochester has a smaller but growing tech presence tied to Mayo Clinic's digital health and data initiatives.

In Minnesota's technology sector, qualifying positions commonly include software engineers, data analysts, data scientists, cloud engineers, cybersecurity analysts, machine learning engineers, and business intelligence developers. The role must be directly related to the graduate's qualifying STEM degree field, as confirmed by the employer and the student's DSO.
