Which companies in Minnesota sponsor visas for software engineering managers?
Target, Best Buy, UnitedHealth Group, and Optum are among the most active H-1B sponsors for engineering leadership roles in Minnesota, based on Department of Labor LCA disclosure data. Mayo Clinic also sponsors for technical management positions within its health technology division. Mid-size fintech and SaaS companies in the Twin Cities metro have also filed sponsorships for software engineering manager roles, though less frequently than larger enterprises.
What visa types are most common for software engineering managers in Minnesota?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software engineering managers in Minnesota, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Candidates already holding L-1A visas through a multinational employer transfer are another pathway, particularly for managers moving from an overseas office of a company with a U.S. presence in the Twin Cities.
How to find software engineering manager visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find software engineering manager roles in Minnesota without manually screening hundreds of postings. You can search by state and role to surface employers who have active sponsorship histories for engineering management positions. This is particularly useful in Minnesota, where sponsorship activity is concentrated among a smaller set of large enterprise employers rather than spread across the market.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most software engineering manager sponsorship jobs?
The Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro accounts for the large majority of software engineering manager sponsorship activity in Minnesota. Minneapolis itself hosts corporate headquarters for Target and other major tech-adopting retailers, while Saint Paul has a concentration of healthcare technology employers. Rochester is a secondary market worth watching given Mayo Clinic's substantial technology workforce, though overall sponsorship volume there is lower than the Twin Cities.
Are there any state-specific considerations for software engineering manager sponsorship in Minnesota?
Minnesota's sponsoring employers tend to concentrate in healthcare IT, retail technology, and financial services, so prior industry experience in those sectors can strengthen a candidacy for engineering manager roles. The Department of Labor's prevailing wage requirements apply statewide, and employers must certify that the offered position meets the wage level appropriate for a management-tier engineering role. University of Minnesota and University of Minnesota Twin Cities alumni networks also supply a meaningful share of engineering talent pipelines at local employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software engineering manager jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
