Which companies sponsor visas for software engineering managers in Rhode Island?
Established Rhode Island employers with documented H-1B sponsorship histories include Lifespan Health System, Brown University, Amica Mutual Insurance, and defense technology firms operating near the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport. Larger national employers with Rhode Island offices, such as CVS Health and Fidelity Investments, also sponsor engineering management roles regularly through established immigration programs.
Which visa types are most common for software engineering manager roles in Rhode Island?
The H-1B is the most common visa for software engineering managers in Rhode Island, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related field. Candidates with extraordinary ability may pursue the O-1A. Managers transferring within a multinational company may qualify for the L-1A, which is designed specifically for executive and managerial roles.
How to find software engineering manager visa sponsorship jobs in Rhode Island?
Migrate Mate lets you filter visa sponsorship jobs specifically for software engineering manager roles in Rhode Island, surfacing employers with active sponsorship histories rather than requiring you to guess from general job postings. Because Rhode Island's tech market is smaller than Boston or New York, filtering by role and state on Migrate Mate helps surface opportunities that broader searches tend to miss.
Which cities in Rhode Island have the most software engineering manager sponsorship jobs?
Providence accounts for the majority of software engineering manager sponsorship activity in Rhode Island, driven by its concentration of healthcare systems, universities, and financial services firms. Woonsocket, home to CVS Health's headquarters, represents another notable cluster. The Newport area attracts defense and maritime technology employers. Rhode Island's geography means most roles are accessible from a single base location.
Are there any Rhode Island-specific considerations for software engineering managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Rhode Island employers filing H-1B petitions must pay the Department of Labor's prevailing wage for software engineering managers in the Providence metropolitan area, which is updated annually. Brown University and the University of Rhode Island create a graduate pipeline that some local employers actively recruit through, so familiarity with those networks can be relevant. Rhode Island's smaller tech market means fewer total openings, but also proportionally less competition for sponsored roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software engineering manager jobs in Rhode Island?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
