- Assist the university in implementing the Statement of Purpose
- Assist the university in implementing the long-range institutional and financial plans
- Use active learning strategies to teach entry level Doctor of Physical Therapy learners in faculty member’s area of expertise
- Create and maintain a scholarly agenda in faculty member’s area of expertise consistent with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education
- Engage in service to the university and the profession through committee appointments, providing continuing education offerings, clinical practice, consulting, etc.
- Exemplify and promote the core values of the physical therapy profession to students and peers, which include accountability, altruism, compassion/caring, excellence, integrity, professional duty, and social responsibility
- Advise learners in academic and professional development issues
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Either post-professional doctorate degree or DPT with clinical specialist certification
- Eligible for physical therapy licensure in Mississippi
- Membership in the American Physical Therapy Association
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Two or more years of academic or clinical teaching experience
- Familiarity with and willingness to employ active learning strategies
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must possess mobility to work in a standard classroom, lab or office setting, and to use standard office equipment including a computer
- Must have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
- Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Must have strength and agility to move files, paper boxes, and minor office equipment
- Must have ability to lift and carry regular laboratory equipment
