Which companies sponsor visas for physical therapy assistants in Texas?
Large health systems with established immigration infrastructure are the most active PTA sponsors in Texas. Baylor Scott & White Health, HCA Healthcare, CHRISTUS Health, and Select Medical have each filed H-1B visa and permanent labor certifications for therapy roles. Outpatient rehabilitation chains and long-term care operators also sponsor, though their willingness varies by facility. Checking OFLC disclosure data for Labor Condition Applications filed under physical therapist assistant job titles gives the clearest picture of which Texas employers have sponsored recently.
Which visa types are most common for physical therapy assistant roles in Texas?
H-1B is the most commonly filed work visa for PTAs in Texas, though qualifying the role as a specialty occupation requires the employer to document that a specific bachelor's degree or higher is a standard industry requirement. EB-3 permanent labor certification is another common pathway, particularly for employers willing to sponsor through the green card process. Some internationally trained PTAs also enter on TN visa status if they hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship and meet USMCA occupation requirements.
Which cities in Texas have the most physical therapy assistant sponsorship jobs?
Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, and San Antonio account for the majority of PTA sponsorship activity in Texas. Houston's Texas Medical Center concentration of hospitals and rehabilitation facilities makes it the single largest market. The DFW Metroplex has grown significantly due to population expansion and the presence of large regional health systems. Austin is a smaller but emerging market, with outpatient clinics and health-tech-affiliated care providers hiring more actively as the city's population grows.
How to find physical therapy assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically to roles where employers have a documented history of visa sponsorship, making it more efficient than broad job searches for PTAs seeking sponsorship in Texas. You can filter by state to focus on Texas openings across Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin. Because PTA sponsorship cases can be competitive, focusing on larger health systems and established rehabilitation networks listed on Migrate Mate gives you a clearer starting point than applying broadly.
Are there any state-specific considerations for physical therapy assistants seeking sponsorship in Texas?
PTAs in Texas must hold an active license from the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, and employers will typically require licensure before or shortly after starting. The license requires passing the NPTE-PTA exam, and foreign-trained applicants may face additional credential evaluation steps. Texas does not impose state-level immigration restrictions on healthcare hiring, but employers in heavily regulated settings like skilled nursing facilities and hospital systems often have more structured sponsorship processes than smaller outpatient practices.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physical therapy assistant jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
