Which aerospace and defense companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Missouri?
Boeing is the most prominent aerospace employer in Missouri, with significant engineering and manufacturing operations in the St. Louis area. Honeywell Federal Manufacturing and Technologies operates a major defense facility in Kansas City. Other active sponsors include Leidos, L3Harris, and General Dynamics IT, which support contracts tied to Scott Air Force Base in southern Illinois but recruit heavily from Missouri's engineering talent pool.
Which cities in Missouri have the most aerospace and defense F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
St. Louis concentrates the majority of Missouri's aerospace and defense employment, anchored by Boeing's defense and commercial aircraft programs and a cluster of defense suppliers. Kansas City is the second-largest hub, home to Honeywell's federally contracted manufacturing plant and several systems integration firms. Smaller concentrations exist near Springfield and in communities adjacent to Missouri military installations that support defense contractor workforces.
What types of aerospace and defense roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify are those requiring a degree in a STEM-designated field as classified by DHS. In aerospace and defense, this commonly includes aerospace engineering, systems engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, software development, data science, and computer science positions. Quality assurance, avionics, structural analysis, and propulsion engineering roles also typically meet the STEM OPT eligibility criteria when tied to a qualifying degree.
How do I find aerospace and defense F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Missouri?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship, letting you search aerospace and defense roles in Missouri by employer, city, and job function without sifting through positions that don't support OPT. Because defense contractors in Missouri often have multiple open technical roles but inconsistent public sponsorship disclosures, using a platform built around verified sponsorship data saves significant time in your search.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT in Missouri's aerospace and defense sector?
Many Missouri defense contractor roles involve work on federally classified programs, which can create eligibility complications for F-1 students who are not U.S. persons under export control regulations. Employers working on ITAR-controlled or classified contracts may restrict certain positions to U.S. citizens or permanent residents regardless of OPT authorization. International students should confirm security clearance and export control requirements directly with prospective employers before applying.
