INTRODUCTION
This posting is for a contract assignment and is not a full-time employment offer with Boeing. Candidates selected for roles will be employed as contract workers through a Boeing approved 3rd party for the duration of the specified project.
Boeing is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Test & Evaluation Lab Tech to join the Structures Lab team in Tukwila, WA. This lab technician will conduct mechanical tests on a wide variety of aerospace materials, aircraft parts and subcomponents to determine the mechanical properties or characteristics of various design elements. The technician will run MTS furnished testing software applications on both servo-hydraulic and mechanical-screw load frames per ASTM, Boeing, and Military testing specifications. Primary responsibilities will include collection of data, analysis of test results, documenting findings, and writing technical reports. It is expected that the applicant will operate under general direction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and validate test articles, rigs, fixtures, load introductions and instrumentation strategies to achieve test objectives.
- Operate test equipment software and hardware to implement test plans and detailed procedures.
- Coordinate test requirements, determine test methods and capabilities.
- Design test setups and methods working with design engineering and fabrication.
- Follow detailed test procedures, safety plans, and test checklists; ensure regulatory and internal compliance.
- Perform data reduction, prepare technical reports, and test summaries.
- Supports testing of multiple test programs and assists other entry and mid-level peers with test set up, execution, and documentation.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of experience in a lab or testing environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic PC skills with Windows OS.
- Mechanical aptitude.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated experience in planning and executing structural static, fatigue and proof tests on metallic and composite airframe components.
- Familiarity with structural test equipment (servo-hydraulic test machines, load cells, fixtures) and safety procedures.
- Experience with CATIA, SolidWorks, or a similar CAD program.
- Proficient in data reduction, analysis, and test reporting tools (Microsoft 365, Python, SQL, etc.).
- Detail oriented and able to efficiently manage shifts in work assignments and priority changes in a fast paced and flexible work environment.
- Experience with MTS software application programs (TWE, MPT, TW4, MTS 793).
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor's degree, or 2 years' related work experience, etc.).
PAY RATE RANGE
35 - 40 USD hourly
