Which healthcare companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Washington?
Washington's largest healthcare STEM OPT sponsors include UW Medicine, Seattle Children's, Providence Health and Services, Kaiser Permanente Washington, and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. Life sciences and health technology companies such as Adaptive Biotechnologies and Ozette Technologies also file Labor Condition Applications for STEM-eligible roles. Sponsorship patterns vary by employer size, role type, and whether the position falls under a qualifying STEM CIP code.
Which cities in Washington have the most healthcare F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Seattle and its surrounding metro, including Bellevue, Kirkland, and Redmond, account for the greatest concentration of healthcare STEM OPT opportunities in Washington, driven by research hospitals, health tech firms, and biomedical employers. Spokane is the state's second-largest healthcare hub, anchored by Providence and MultiCare Health System. Tacoma and Everett also have regional hospital systems with documented LCA filing histories in health data and clinical informatics roles.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify must be in a STEM-designated CIP code field and require at least a bachelor's degree in that field. In healthcare, qualifying positions commonly include health informatics analyst, biostatistician, clinical data scientist, bioinformatics engineer, and public health data analyst. Bedside clinical roles such as registered nursing generally do not qualify under STEM OPT. Employers and DSOs confirm CIP code alignment before approving the STEM OPT extension through SEVIS.
How do I find healthcare F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa type and industry, so you can search for healthcare roles in Washington where employers have documented F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history drawn from DOL LCA filings. This removes the guesswork of approaching employers who have never sponsored the category. You can narrow results by city, role type, and employer to identify active sponsors in health informatics, life sciences, and clinical data fields across the state.
Are there state-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Washington's healthcare sector?
Washington has no state-level immigration licensing surcharge, but healthcare employers must still comply with DOL E-Verify enrollment requirements for STEM OPT workers. Many of Washington's largest health systems are affiliated with academic medical centers, which can affect the pace and structure of hiring decisions. The state's concentration of federally qualified health centers and tribal health programs also creates niche STEM-eligible roles in public health analytics and community health informatics that are less common in other states.
