Which healthcare companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Oregon?
Oregon's largest healthcare employers with F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history include Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), Providence Health & Services, Legacy Health, and PeaceHealth. Smaller biotech and health technology firms in the Portland metro area also participate, particularly for roles in data analytics, biomedical research, and health information systems. Sponsorship patterns vary by role and department, so confirming with each employer's HR team is essential.
Which cities in Oregon have the most healthcare F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the largest share of healthcare F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Oregon, anchored by OHSU's South Waterfront campus and the dense concentration of hospital networks in the metro area. Salem and Eugene each support regional health systems with occasional STEM-eligible openings. Bend is a growing market for healthcare roles tied to St. Charles Health System, though sponsorship volume there remains smaller than in Portland.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
F-1 STEM OPT eligibility requires the role to fall under a USCIS-designated STEM occupational category. In healthcare, roles that commonly qualify include biomedical engineers, clinical data analysts, health informatics specialists, bioinformatics researchers, and medical laboratory scientists. Direct patient-care positions such as registered nurse or medical assistant generally do not fall under STEM OPT classifications. Reviewing the O*NET classification for a specific role helps confirm STEM OPT eligibility before applying.
How do I find healthcare F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for healthcare roles with F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Oregon, using verified DOL Labor Condition Application filing data to show which employers have an active sponsorship history. This removes the guesswork of cold-applying to employers who may not sponsor. Narrowing your search to Portland, Salem, or Eugene and filtering by STEM-eligible healthcare occupations gives you the most targeted results for your authorization timeline.
Are there any state-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Oregon's healthcare sector?
Oregon's healthcare sector is heavily influenced by its large academic medical infrastructure, particularly OHSU, which operates under federal research funding and has established international hiring pipelines. Oregon also has active E-Verify participation among major hospital networks, which is a federal requirement for STEM OPT employers. State licensure requirements for certain clinical and laboratory roles can affect your start date, so confirming that your professional credentials are accepted in Oregon before accepting an offer is important.
