Which healthcare companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Utah?
Intermountain Health, University of Utah Health, and SelectHealth are among the larger Utah-based healthcare employers with documented histories of hiring international talent in technical roles. Biomedical and health technology firms operating in the Salt Lake City metro, including companies within the growing Silicon Slopes corridor, have also filed Labor Condition Applications for STEM-adjacent healthcare positions. Sponsorship availability varies by role, department, and hiring cycle.
Which cities in Utah have the most healthcare F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City concentrates the largest share of healthcare F-1 STEM OPT opportunities, anchored by University of Utah Health's hospital and research campuses. Provo and Orem, part of the Silicon Slopes tech corridor, host health technology and digital health companies. Ogden and St. George have smaller healthcare markets but support regional hospital systems that occasionally hire for technical and data-oriented clinical roles.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles must fall under a STEM-designated Classification of Instructional Programs code tied to the student's degree. In healthcare, this commonly includes health informatics, biomedical engineering, clinical data analysis, bioinformatics, and healthcare IT. Positions like medical scientist, biostatistician, and health systems analyst frequently qualify. Purely clinical roles such as registered nurse or medical assistant typically do not qualify under F-1 STEM OPT because they require licensure rather than a STEM degree pathway.
How do I find healthcare F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate filters healthcare jobs in Utah specifically by F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship eligibility, drawing on DOL Labor Condition Application filing data to surface employers with verified sponsorship histories. Search by role type, city, and STEM designation to narrow results to positions your degree supports. Filtering to Utah's Salt Lake City and Provo markets within Migrate Mate surfaces health systems, biotech firms, and health technology companies actively hiring international candidates.
Are there state-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Utah's healthcare sector?
Utah does not impose additional state-level immigration requirements on F-1 STEM OPT workers, but healthcare employers in the state must comply with Utah's E-Verify mandate, which requires employers with 15 or more employees to verify work authorization. For STEM OPT, your employer must also be enrolled in E-Verify as a federal program condition before your DSO can recommend the 24-month extension. Confirm E-Verify enrollment with any Utah healthcare employer before accepting an offer.
