Which healthcare companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Colorado?
Colorado's largest healthcare employers with documented STEM OPT sponsorship patterns include UCHealth, Children's Hospital Colorado, SCL Health (now Intermountain Health), and DaVita, which is headquartered in Denver. Large health insurance and health IT firms such as Centura Health and Optum's Colorado operations also hire STEM OPT workers in analytics, informatics, and engineering roles. Sponsorship varies by role and department, so confirm eligibility directly with each employer's HR or talent acquisition team.
Which cities in Colorado have the most healthcare F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Denver and its metro communities of Aurora and Englewood account for the largest share of healthcare STEM OPT roles in Colorado, driven by the concentration of major hospital systems and health tech companies along the I-25 corridor. Colorado Springs supports a secondary market centered on UCHealth Memorial and Centura's Penrose-St. Francis network. Boulder and Fort Collins have smaller but growing healthcare innovation and digital health sectors tied to the University of Colorado system.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify for STEM OPT must be tied to a degree on the STEM Designated Degree Program List, meaning the position's core duties must require that STEM knowledge. In healthcare, this typically covers health informatics analysts, biomedical engineers, clinical data scientists, bioinformatics specialists, and healthcare software developers. Roles like medical assistants or patient coordinators generally do not qualify because those positions do not require a STEM degree. Students should verify their specific degree classification through their DSO before applying.
How do I find healthcare F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students and filters healthcare jobs in Colorado by employers with verified F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history, so you're not sifting through listings that won't consider your authorization. Search by the healthcare industry and select Colorado to surface roles at health systems, health IT firms, and medical device companies that have actively sponsored STEM OPT workers. Cross-reference any employer you find with their DOL Labor Condition Application filing history to confirm sponsorship activity.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Colorado's healthcare sector?
Colorado requires licensed healthcare professionals to hold state-issued credentials, but most STEM OPT-qualifying roles are in non-clinical functions like health data analytics and biomedical engineering where a Colorado professional license is not required. Employers in Colorado must be enrolled in E-Verify to hire STEM OPT workers, which most large health systems already satisfy. The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus generates a notable pipeline of STEM OPT candidates, so competition for sponsored roles at affiliated employers can be higher than in other Colorado industries.
