Position Summary
The Systems and Infrastructure Engineer II plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing infrastructure systems through routine maintenance, automation, and capacity management. This position involves designing scalable solutions, ensuring system security compliance, and supporting configuration and version control processes. The role requires collaboration with stakeholders to analyze requirements, optimize IT resources, and resolve technical issues efficiently. By applying industry best practices and emerging technologies, the engineer contributes to reliable, high-quality infrastructure operations that support business objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Rack, stack, cable, label, and validate data center infrastructure equipment, including servers, network devices, storage systems, PDUs, and related hardware.
- Install, route, dress, test, and document copper, fiber, power, management, and network cabling according to established standards.
- Support hardware deployments, equipment moves, hardware refreshes, decommissions, break/fix activities, and routine maintenance.
- Troubleshoot low-complexity infrastructure issues related to hardware, cabling, power, connectivity, labeling, or installation, and escalate complex issues as needed.
- Maintain accurate infrastructure records, including rack locations, asset tags, serial numbers, cable connections, port mappings, power connections, and hardware changes.
- Support configuration and capacity tracking for rack space, power, network ports, cable pathways, equipment placement, VLAN or network assignment details, and hardware growth needs.
- Assist with planning and scoping infrastructure work requests, including materials, dependencies, risks, execution steps, and change management requirements.
- Follow company policies, data center standards, safety procedures, security requirements, compliance expectations, and operational best practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve repeatable operational processes through documentation, checklists, templates, standard work, or approved tools.
What You'll Bring
- Experience in a data center, enterprise infrastructure, network operations, systems support, or hardware support environment.
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards, fiber optics, copper cabling, transceivers, patch panels, cable testing, and cable management practices.
- Experience with infrastructure documentation, including rack elevations, cable maps, port maps, asset records, or hardware inventory systems.
- Familiarity with incident management, change management, maintenance windows, and operational support processes.
- Understanding of data center networking, including VLANs, network connectivity, firewalls, VPNs, or related infrastructure concepts.
- Exposure to server, storage, virtualization, Windows Server, Linux, or enterprise hardware platforms.
- Experience supporting hardware refreshes, equipment decommissioning, data center moves, or large-scale infrastructure environments.
- BICSI certification or related data center, cabling, networking, or infrastructure certification preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
