Which companies sponsor visas for hospitalists in Nebraska?
The most active sponsors for hospitalist roles in Nebraska include Nebraska Medicine (affiliated with UNMC), Bryan Health in Lincoln, CHI Health, and Methodist Health System in Omaha. Regional critical access hospitals in rural Nebraska also sponsor through J-1 waiver Conrad 30 slots, which are administered at the state level and tied to service commitments in medically underserved areas.
Which visa types are most common for hospitalist roles in Nebraska?
H-1B is the most common visa for hospitalists employed directly by hospital systems in Nebraska, as internal medicine qualifies as a specialty occupation. J-1 waiver positions are also prevalent, particularly Conrad 30 waivers requiring three-year service commitments at facilities serving underserved populations. Some academic positions through UNMC may involve J-1 exchange visitor status before transitioning to H-1B.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most hospitalist sponsorship jobs?
Omaha accounts for the largest share of hospitalist sponsorship opportunities in Nebraska, driven by Nebraska Medicine, Methodist Health System, and CHI Health's flagship facilities. Lincoln is the second-largest market, with Bryan Health operating multiple campuses. Rural areas including Grand Island, Kearney, and Norfolk also post sponsored hospitalist roles, often tied to J-1 waiver programs given their underserved designations.
How to find hospitalist visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international physicians and clinicians seeking visa-sponsored positions in the U.S. You can filter by state and role to surface hospitalist openings in Nebraska that include sponsorship. This is more targeted than general job searches because listings are screened for sponsorship eligibility, saving time for IMGs who need to confirm that detail upfront before applying.
Are there state-specific considerations for hospitalists pursuing sponsorship in Nebraska?
Nebraska participates in the Conrad 30 J-1 waiver program, which allocates up to 30 waivers per year for physicians who commit to practicing in underserved areas. Demand for these slots means they can fill quickly. Nebraska also has a relatively active J-1 waiver pipeline through its rural healthcare needs. Prevailing wage determinations for hospitalists are set by the Department of Labor and vary by metropolitan versus non-metropolitan areas within the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored hospitalist jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
