Which companies sponsor visas for project accountants in Nebraska?
Kiewit Corporation in Omaha is among the most active sponsors for project accounting roles in Nebraska, given its scale in construction and engineering. Healthcare systems like CHI Health and Nebraska Medicine, along with agribusiness firms such as Valmont Industries, also appear in sponsorship filings. Larger employers with dedicated finance functions tend to be the most consistent sponsors for project accountant positions.
Which visa types are most common for project accountant roles in Nebraska?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for project accountants in Nebraska, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals under USMCA. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT authorization can begin work before an H-1B petition is filed.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most project accountant sponsorship jobs?
Omaha accounts for the majority of project accountant sponsorship activity in Nebraska. It hosts Kiewit's headquarters and a concentration of healthcare, financial services, and construction firms. Lincoln, as the state capital and home to the University of Nebraska system, offers additional opportunities through government contractors, university-affiliated organizations, and regional engineering firms that regularly hire project accountants.
How to find project accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship and lets you filter project accountant roles by state, including Nebraska. Rather than sifting through general job boards where sponsorship status is often unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces employers with a verified history of sponsoring work visas, making it easier to target Omaha and Lincoln-based firms like Kiewit and regional construction or healthcare employers.
Are there state-specific considerations for project accountants seeking sponsorship in Nebraska?
Nebraska's construction and agribusiness sectors drive consistent demand for project accountants, particularly in cost tracking and contract compliance functions. H-1B petitions require employers to pay the prevailing wage for the role and location, as determined by Department of Labor data for the Omaha or Lincoln metropolitan areas. Candidates with experience in construction accounting software or cost accounting for capital projects are particularly competitive with Nebraska's largest sponsoring employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project accountant jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
