The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given the degree requirement in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Employers also occasionally sponsor L-1B transfers for software engineers moving from a foreign affiliated office, and candidates from Australia may find E-3 visa sponsorship available at larger tech-forward employers.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most software engineer sponsorship jobs?

Lincoln is the secondary hub, driven by state government technology contracts, the University of Nebraska system, and a growing cluster of software startups. Are there state-specific factors software engineers should know about Nebraska sponsorship jobs?
Nebraska's software engineering market is heavily weighted toward financial services, insurance technology, and logistics, so candidates with domain experience in those industries tend to see stronger interest from local employers. U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
