Which companies sponsor visas for physician assistants in New Jersey?
The largest sponsors are New Jersey's major health systems: RWJBarnabas Health, Hackensack Meridian Health, Atlantic Health System, and Virtua Health. Academic medical centers like Rutgers Health and Cooper University Health Care also have established sponsorship histories for PA roles. Larger multi-site hospital networks tend to have dedicated immigration support teams, making them more consistent sponsors than independent or single-site practices.
Which visa types are most common for physician assistant roles in New Jersey?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for physician assistants in New Jersey, as the PA role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Some employers also support TN visa status for Canadian or Mexican nationals with PA credentials recognized under USMCA. For PAs already in the U.S. on another status, change-of-status filings through an H-1B petition are typical.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most physician assistant sponsorship jobs?
Newark leads in volume, anchored by University Hospital and the broader Rutgers Health network. Morristown and Hackensack are strong secondary markets due to Atlantic Health and Hackensack Meridian's flagship campuses. Camden sees PA hiring through Cooper University Health Care. The Route 1 corridor between Trenton and New Brunswick also generates consistent demand tied to community health centers and outpatient specialty practices.
How to find physician assistant visa sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate filters physician assistant jobs specifically by visa sponsorship, so you can browse New Jersey openings without sorting through roles that won't support international candidates. The platform surfaces positions from health systems and hospitals that have active sponsorship programs. Searching by the PA job title within New Jersey on Migrate Mate gives you a targeted list relevant to your immigration situation, saving significant time.
Are there state-specific considerations for physician assistants seeking sponsorship in New Jersey?
New Jersey licenses physician assistants through the State Board of Medical Examiners, and employers typically require state licensure or eligibility before extending an offer. Because New Jersey sits within a high-cost-of-living metropolitan region, prevailing wage determinations for H-1B petitions here tend to reflect higher wage levels compared to national averages. PAs graduating from Rutgers or Seton Hall PA programs sometimes have an advantage with in-state health systems already familiar with those pipelines.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physician assistant jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
