Which companies sponsor visas for physician assistants in Massachusetts?
Mass General Brigham, Beth Israel Lahey Health, Boston Children's Hospital, and UMass Memorial Health are among the larger Massachusetts health systems with documented H-1B sponsorship activity for physician assistants. Federally Qualified Health Centers across the state also frequently sponsor PAs, particularly through the H-1B cap-exempt pathway available to nonprofit and government-affiliated healthcare providers.
Which visa types are most common for physician assistant roles in Massachusetts?
H-1B is the most common visa for physician assistants in Massachusetts, as the PA role generally qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a master's degree. Cap-exempt H-1B filings are available through nonprofit hospitals and academic medical centers, which are well represented in Massachusetts. J-1 visas are less common for PAs than for physicians, and TN status does not cover the PA occupation.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most physician assistant sponsorship jobs?
Boston has the highest concentration of PA sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts, driven by its density of teaching hospitals and research institutions. Worcester is a secondary hub anchored by UMass Memorial and Saint Vincent Hospital. Springfield, Lowell, and Fall River also have active demand through community health centers that serve underserved populations and hold cap-exempt employer status under HRSA designations.
How to find physician assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters physician assistant jobs specifically to employers in Massachusetts that have sponsored work visas, saving you from manually sorting through postings that won't lead to sponsorship. Because PA roles in Massachusetts are spread across large academic systems, community health centers, and specialty practices, using Migrate Mate to narrow by location and sponsorship history is a more efficient starting point than general job searches.
Are there state-specific factors that affect PA visa sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts requires physician assistants to hold a state license from the Board of Registration in Medicine, and international applicants must have their credentials verified before practicing. PA programs at Massachusetts institutions like Northeastern University and Tufts contribute to a competitive local candidate pool. Employers at nonprofit hospitals can file H-1B petitions outside the annual lottery cap, which meaningfully improves sponsorship prospects for PA candidates targeting those systems.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physician assistant jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
