Which companies sponsor visas for physician assistants in Delaware?
ChristianaCare, the largest health system in Delaware, is among the most active employers of physician assistants and has sponsored work visas for clinical staff. Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover and Nemours Children's Health also hire PAs at volume. Smaller multispecialty groups and federally qualified health centers in the state have sponsored visas as well, particularly for hard-to-fill specialty or primary care positions.
Which visa types are most common for physician assistant roles in Delaware?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for physician assistants in Delaware, as the PA role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a master's degree. Some employers also use the J-1 visa waiver pathway for internationally trained clinicians who completed a J-1 exchange program, often tied to a service obligation in a health professional shortage area. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose PA credentials meet the relevant treaty criteria.
Which cities in Delaware have the most physician assistant sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington accounts for the largest share of physician assistant openings in Delaware, driven by ChristianaCare's flagship hospital system and affiliated outpatient network. Dover is the second most active market, anchored by Bayhealth Medical Center and state government health services. Newark, home to the University of Delaware medical corridor, also sees consistent PA hiring. Given Delaware's small geographic footprint, many employers draw from all three areas.
How to find physician assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa-sponsored PA roles, and you can filter directly by state to surface Delaware opportunities. Because physician assistant positions require active sponsorship rather than a standard hire, filtering for confirmed sponsorship employers saves significant time. ChristianaCare and Bayhealth post PA openings regularly, and Migrate Mate helps you identify which Delaware employers have a documented history of sponsoring clinical staff.
Are there state-specific considerations for physician assistants pursuing visa sponsorship in Delaware?
Delaware requires PAs to hold a state license from the Delaware Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline, and international applicants must have their credentials verified before licensure is granted. The state has designated health professional shortage areas, particularly in Sussex County, where J-1 waiver slots may be available through the Delaware Primary Care Office. Delaware's proximity to Philadelphia and the broader Mid-Atlantic healthcare market means employers here often recruit regionally, making sponsorship decisions competitive.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physician assistant jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
