Which companies sponsor visas for physician assistants in Nebraska?
Nebraska Medicine (affiliated with UNMC) and Bryan Health are among the most active employers of physician assistants in Nebraska and have histories of sponsoring work visas for qualified candidates. CHI Health and Great Plains Health in North Platte also hire PAs for hospital and specialty roles. Federally Qualified Health Centers serving rural Nebraska communities are particularly known for supporting international hires due to persistent staffing shortages.
Which visa types are most common for physician assistant roles in Nebraska?
The H-1B is the most commonly used visa for physician assistants in Nebraska, as PA roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a master's degree. The J-1 visa is another pathway, primarily through teaching hospital programs affiliated with the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Some employers in underserved rural areas may support Conrad 30 J-1 waivers, though eligibility and availability depend on program specifics.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most physician assistant sponsorship jobs?
Omaha concentrates the highest number of PA sponsorship opportunities, driven by Nebraska Medicine, UNMC's affiliated clinics, and CHI Health's network. Lincoln is the second-largest market, with Bryan Health and several specialty practices actively hiring. Grand Island and Kearney have emerging demand tied to regional hospital expansions, and rural communities throughout western Nebraska frequently post PA openings due to ongoing primary care shortages.
How to find physician assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate is a dedicated platform for finding visa sponsorship jobs, including physician assistant roles in Nebraska. You can filter specifically by state and role to surface employers who have sponsored work visas for PAs before. This is more targeted than general job searching, since many PA postings don't explicitly mention sponsorship availability upfront. Migrate Mate's listings are focused on internationally trained candidates, making it a practical starting point.
Are there any state-specific considerations for physician assistants seeking visa sponsorship in Nebraska?
Nebraska grants physician assistants full prescriptive authority and broad practice agreements, which makes PA roles here operationally independent and attractive to employers willing to invest in sponsorship. The University of Nebraska Medical Center pipeline produces strong local PA graduates, but specialty and rural demand regularly outpaces supply, creating consistent openings for international candidates. Employers in Health Professional Shortage Areas may have additional incentives to support visa sponsorship for primary care PAs.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physician assistant jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
