Which companies sponsor visas for physician assistants in Kansas?
The University of Kansas Health System is among the most active sponsors, along with Stormont Vail Health in Topeka and Via Christi Health in Wichita. Regional hospital networks and federally qualified health centers serving rural and underserved communities also sponsor PAs, as Kansas has persistent shortages in primary care and specialty areas like orthopedics and emergency medicine.
Which visa types are most common for physician assistant roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for physician assistants in Kansas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a master's degree in physician assistant studies. The J-1 visa is also relevant for PAs willing to commit to underserved area service through Conrad 30 or National Health Service Corps programs, which Kansas actively participates in.
Which cities in Kansas have the most physician assistant sponsorship jobs?
Wichita has the highest concentration of physician assistant openings in Kansas, driven by its role as the state's largest healthcare market. Kansas City (Kansas side) is a close second, anchored by the University of Kansas Health System campus. Topeka, as the state capital and home to Stormont Vail Health, also generates consistent PA sponsorship opportunities across primary care and hospital settings.
How to find physician assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters physician assistant roles specifically to employers who have demonstrated willingness to sponsor work visas, saving you the time of screening out positions that won't support international candidates. You can narrow results to Kansas cities like Wichita, Kansas City, and Topeka to focus on the markets with the highest PA demand. It's the most direct way to identify Kansas-based PA sponsorship opportunities.
Are there state-specific considerations for physician assistants seeking visa sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas designates many rural counties as Health Professional Shortage Areas, which increases employer willingness to sponsor visa candidates to fill persistent PA vacancies. The University of Kansas School of Health Professions graduates a steady pipeline of domestic PAs, but demand consistently outpaces supply in rural and critical access settings. Employers in these areas are often more open to sponsorship than urban private practices.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physician assistant jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
